Reading leads 2-1 at Chelsea

Cahill equalizes in the 70th minute. It wasn't a great chance but he put it on net and Frederici failed to save it properly.

Barca is beating Real Madrid in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

Scoreless first half. Ronaldo struck first in the second but Barca answered immediately and then added two more goals later.

3-2 in the final minutes

I went to the Chelsea game yesterday and had seats in the 9th row on midfield, incredible day. I'm no Chelsea fan but that was the best Premiership game I've ever been to.

Certainly the weather could have been better, but that was a good match to watch

And we've had a great one. Shame Caddis left, but the rest of it, great. Should be on for promotion.

very meh final transfer day (unless something amazing happens in the next 10 minutes). Nothing for Newcastle (but at least we didn't lose any of our better players either).

One for you guys - Tottenham have got another one in the bag. Confirmation from BBC Sport's Mandeep Sanghera that Spurs have completed the signing of striker Clint Dempsey from Fulham. The 29-year-old United States international, who looked like he was heading for Liverpool, has moved to White Hart Lane for a fee of £6m.

A hat-trick for RVP on his Man Utd debut - Arsenal fans must feel sick (though not as sick as Liverpool fans)

Its no shock to ser him scoring. Guy could've had 5 yesterday.

Oh well. Focus on the players that are at the club. Notably the midfield trio yesterday!

Especially after the Gunners whipped our asses. I was in Barcelona and dropped the hundered bucks for terrible seats at Camp Nou to watch them beat Valencia.

I assume national team discussion falls under "etc" in the title, so. . .

US away to Jamaica tonight in WCQ. beIN Sport, Al Jazeera's new sports network, has rights to all CONCACAF WCQ matches not taking place in the US or Mexico (they also own rights to La Liga, Serie A, South American WCQ, and they are said to be planning a massive bid for EPL when its current contract is up). Currently beIN Sport is only available on the satellites and Comcast, so I'm headed out to the bar to watch.

No Donovan or Bradley, who are both injured. Deuce is in the side, not expected to start though, given he hasn't played in months.

Come on you Yanks.

Herculez Gomez scored in the 55th minute and the national team beats Jamaica. The Reggae Boyz putting up a good fight. I'd love to see them qualify again but not at the expense of the US.
