I was doing some thinking about he Pouha/Devito questions that keep coming up.....
If we resign Pouha and let Devito walk, can Chapman kick out to DE in a 3/4? I know he is going to have surgery for his torn ACL so that would/should push him down the draft boards....depending on what round he is still sitting there at is he worth a draft pick? |

This misconception keeps coming up on this site, Devito is still signed to this team. He isnt worth cutting at all to bring in a rookie to replace him. Josh Chapman is a decent prospect but extremely limited.

Its no problem I just want that to get cleared up with people that hes not a FA.
Chapman would be a solid addition somewhere in the 6th round though, he's crazy strong and would provide some nice depth.

thats what i was thinking, instead of taking Scotty McKnight part 2 we could take someone like this. Let him rehab and then go, with Wilk, Ellis and someone like this on the line we would be really strong at the point of attack. Work on the OLB/Saftey position and the D is back on track for the most part....

Deaderick was a solid 3-4 end in college and occupied linemen. Chapman is a 3-4 nose. a plugger in my view. don't see him out at end. many draft sites still have him going in the second to third round, dont think he will make it to six

I would love to see us get someone like Billy Winn in the third. Though he may not last that long. Changing out a expensive vet for some youth is most likely going to happen somewhere this season and Dline may be one of the few places we could afford to take that hit to depth ATM.

That said I would not want to use a pick in the top 4 rounds on a D lineman (depending on the Pouha situation). I would be confident going into the new year with: Wilkerson, Pouha, Dixon, Pito, MTV, Ellis as the main rotation with maybe a late round guy or cheap FA for a little extra insurance. |
