He held a conference just to say he's undecided ... AWESOME

Glad Marty stuck with you guys, he should retire a Devil for sure. I think it's looking a lot less likely that Parise sticks though, it's still possible but if his heart was with NJD then he would have agreed to their contract already.

I don't know, you have to at least test the waters and see what is out there. This is going to be his big contract so he'd be silly to at least not see what he can get from other teams.

He'd have a fair idea what was out there for him anyway, I think. At 27 he's looking for his best chance to win a ring, and I doubt that one of the NHL's oldest rosters, especially at the back, represents it. I'll be surprised if he stays.

That doesn't guarantee he stays but it's as compelling a case as any other team could make. |

Brodeur - 40
Hedberg - 39 Salvador - 36 Elias - 36 Sykora - 36 Zidlicky - 35 Zubrus - 34 The entire second line, the second defensive pairing and both goalies are well past their sell by date. That they are still good is a testament to their abilities, but their ages are catching up to them and your team is in major need of an overhaul. I'd be surprised if Parise was prepared to risk the biggest contract of his life and the prime of his career on the hope that that overhaul can be completed while still giving him a genuine chance at a ring. His best opportunity to lift Lord Stanley as a Devil was last season. I think he moves on, because there will be teams better placed to give him a shot next year and the year after who will offer him every bit as much money - the new cap gives a lot of teams room to offer big money, and the FA market is weak so they're all competing for the same small handful of players. It isn't beyond the realms of possibility that he stays, but the odds have to be against.

And as if on cue, news breaks that Parise has agreed a move to the Minnesota Wild along with Ryan Suter.

That's a bummer, but he's from Minnesota and he's not with a rival, so better than it could have been, I guess. Can't see them as any better bet to win the Cup than us, but like Yisman said, the Devils always move on and will again.

I'm over it. I like Zach as a player, I always have and i'm glad he's going out of conference, but 13 years for a 27 year old undersized grind-it-out winger who's already had knee problems is insane when that player isn't a ppg producer anymore. The term is a lot more justifiable to pay Suter when his game is predicated on positioning and a big shot then it is to pay an undersized grind it out winger who in 4 years will be very much on the wrong side of 30.
Please no knee jerk reaction like when we lost Neids Lou. I do NOT want Semin.

Fuck. Northwest division just got a lot tougher.....
Devils always lose talent and somehow stay competitive. Tough break for them but expected. |

It's hard to dislike a small market team like the Wild, especially when they've got such good fans. If they ditch that fucking cunt Heatley I'll have no problem with them, but I'm afraid I'm automatically programmed to despise any team that employs that piece of shit. They're certainly not Heat-like, I don't think.

Def not...I love Minnesota as a sports city as well...Big fan of the Twins...Wild deserve this after countless times of players leaving that organization.
They have Parise, Suter, and Heatley...But cant forget that their most essential piece last year was Mikko Koivu who went down with injury and the Wild just fell apart |

The last thing that Jersey need is another guy on the downslope of his thirties.
