For many fans, certainly for me, the first couple days after seeing The Phantom Menace were steeped in denial. "Man, that uh... that lightsaber scene was pretty good... I guess..." Then a saw it a second time, and then a third time...

It was a tough thing to face: a wish you've had since you were a kid (more fucking Star Wars, please!) was finally granted, and then warped and twisted before your eyes into the filth that was The Phantom Menace. George Lucas is an evil genie, the kind that make you rich by turning your wife and kids into solid gold. He's a monkey's paw, middle finger extended to Star Wars fans everywhere.

George Lucas is your favorite uncle; he's cool as shit, tells jokes, buys you presents, etc. Then one day, your chilling on the couch watching TV, and all of a sudden, you turn your head and he's got his dick out near your face. That's what The Phantom Menace was like.

And he deserves to fucking pay, even if that only means enduring the scorn of internet folk whom he'll never encounter. Even now, more than a decade after this movie came out, it's difficult for me to watch stuff like this and not get pissed off. But it reminds me that George Lucas hatred is like a glass; it needs to be filled from time to time. It reminds you to say "fuck you, Uncle George. You put your cock near my face, that shit was wrong, you're a fucking asshole."

ehh, I honestly believe Lucas thought he was not only making movies as good as the original films but better. he wasn't dismissing Star Wars fans, he simply didn't know (and didn't care) that what he thought Star Wars should be (not what it was with the original films -- this is an important distinction because the changes in the storytelling and character dynamics in the prequels reveals he changed his idea of Star Wars) didn't coincide with what everyone else thought it should be as well. or perhaps he felt that people really didn't have any expectations and would like it simply for being Star Wars. considering how much money the movies made, there is no doubt that Star Wars fans raced to see it in droves regardless, so to some extent he was right.
