Default Brandon Moore

I've never been in love w/this guy and I have always been hoping the JETS would use like a 3rd rounder on a 6'4" 320+ lb mauler to replace him. But Moore has quietly turned into more than capable at his position. In the AFC East, the most rushing yardage was generated behind Logan Mankins NE, with 1,119 yards. Only Brandon Moore (915 yards) was close among AFC East linemen. The release & re-pickup of Moore last year was a brilliant move by Tannenbaum who might have gotten more lucky than we think. Moore wants to be a JET, is steady & will play 16 games of season.

A little show of appreciation during the slow offseason for a guy I was flat-out wrong about.

I was also unsure of Brandon Moore and did not think he would pan out for the Jets. Maybe the new additions to the line have also lifted his play along with learning from the guys must have help alot. I am glad he is still on the team.

For a guy who began his NFL career as a converted DL, Moore has performed admirably at worst. The guy is a solid run blocker and is no worse than Mangold or Brick in pass protection. Keeping Moore on the roster was a great move over picking up Kemoeatu.

I'm glad people are finally starting to come around regarding Moore. I've been saying it all offseason that I thought he was our best OL last year. And I don't think it's a stretch at all to say that.

Yeah, that situation almost turned into a disaster. I would definitely rather have Moore thank Kemeatu

Not at all a stretch to say that.
Moore flat out balled last year, and i expect more to come. That re-sign was essential! and no doubt one of our best offseason moves.

Agree with OP. The only thing he brings up that makes me worry in the least was how LUCKY we were to resign Moore. I really don't think that was in the cards, but I am definnitely DEFINITELY pleased it went down like it did.

I like Moore, but the release and pick re-aquire was due to his contract. With a more friendly number he can stay awhile. With that said, we still badly need depth at both the guard/Center and tackle postions for our OL.

thats for sure. having some consistency among the line for the first time in ages should only help the unit improve as a whole too.

can anybody remember the time we had all 5 starters return for 2 consecutive years on the oline? i'm drawing a blank.

No, I understand why he had to be re-leased --- he was due a ridiculous roster bonus of $7 million back in last Feb. When I said lucky, I meant that we were lucky in that no other team snuck in after he was released & came over the top to overpay him and leave us w/someone at G like an Adrien Clarke.

The last time we had the same starters from the year before was in 2001. Fabini, Jenkins, Mawae, Thomas, Young.

Yes, we were fortunate that no one can in and snatched him, but going into that off season the Jets line did not exactly have a glowing reputation. Playing next to the likes of Clark and Clementes made good linemen look awful. Its amazing how Brick, Mangold, and Moore look so much better when not trying to cover for the guys next to them every down.

This line isn't looking too shabby itself.

We got a better guard and a better cap number. Kemoeatu was one of the worst at pass protection last year, how many sacks did that o-line give up? By bringing back Moore we maintained both the talent level and cohesion of the o-line.

Hell yeah we need depth, does anyone remember the game last year where Rob Turner had to come in for a few snaps cause Mangold got hurt? He screwed up the snap 2 out of 3 times I think. Yikes.

I'm just glad to see that Moore wasn't a "penalty-machine" last year, compared to prior seasons. Nice improvement.

Brandon Moore by FAR was our best run blocking OLineman last season. When we cut him, I was pissed, and rightfully so. Take a look at all of our big runs last year, I don't know if one came behind anyone else except Moore. He is the man and very under-rated by the organization and a lot of fans.
