Default Signed up to run my first 5K

Wish me luck. A cigar smoking, beer guzzling 34 year old. I have 3 months to train.

At thirty four you should be able to roll out of bed and run a 5K. Three months to train? You could actually be competitive.

Whats the obstacle course all about?

If you train three months for a 3 mile run I will be disgusted. Your training should entail waking up that morning, driving to the starting line, chugging your last beer and getting the show on the road.

Seriously

It's alot of rope bridges, tires, walls, etc. It is separate from the 5k.

It is just a 5k run..My wife has been running for 6 months now. She did her first 5K a few weeks ago. She has dropped to just 10 LBs away from her wedding day weight. Quite impressive for a mother of Irish twins.

I guess the rules state you have to average 1 mile in under 15 minutes. I am not worried. I know i can do it, but I also know I am way out of shape and my wife may kick my ass..lol

Jonny, I work 7-10 hours a day on my feet. I know I am out of shape, but I can hang. I do not smoke cigs. I have a few cigars a week. Still bad, but not nearly as bad as a pack a day.

That's how i started. ran 1 walked 1. I have been running 3.5 miles on alternating days from the gym for years now. One you start it will become part of your life and you'll love it. I got the new UnderArmour running sneakers recently. Best i've ever used.

well working on your feet gives you a leg up on the average desk dwelling 34 year old who is out of shape.

I guess you have never worked in a bar. Try changing a keg buried3 deep or carrying a tray with 5 dinners
