Default Post Your Questions for Jets Draft Preview with Erik Boland

As most everybody knows by now, I co-host a 100% commercial-free, no one makes a dime from it, Sports Talk radio show on Long Island.

Tonight, at 9:00PM on LI's 90.3FM, we're going to be joined again by Newsday's Jets beat writer Erik Boland--this time, for a Jets Draft Preview.

Like always, please post any questions that you might have, and we'll ask them.

While we're not yet webcast, I'll get the audio to

Are the Jets comfortable with Kellen Clemens as the starting QB next season?

What's the latest with Thomas Jones's holdout?

Has Rex instilled some fight into Gholston yet?

How are the new pieces fitting in to the defense?

This is a serious question and not meant to be disrespectful so please take it in that vein.

Q. What is the error the Jets are most likely to make in the first year of the Ryan coaching era?

For Parcells it was running Hugh Douglas out of town and never developing the kind of explosive pass rush he had put together previously and has put together since. The Jets are the only stop Parcells has had where he couldn't put together a top flight pass rush and giving up on Douglas early was the obvious mistake.

For Edwards the mistake was going to a 4-3 Cover Two defense when most of the personnel in place said 3-4 instead. This resulted in the devaluing of James Farrior, Jason Ferguson and Aaron Glenn and probably lead to the early retirements of Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones.

For Mangini the mistake was pure ego, with his my way or the highway style that worked wonders on a dispirited team in 2006 but then fell flat with too much exposure by 2007. Picking a fight with Pete Kendall in the media basically doomed Mangini when the Jets collapsed in 2007 although it took another year for the scenario to play out.

So the question is: Where is Ryan seeding problems for the future as he comes in and tries to get established? What is the thing we will likely point too in 3 or 4 years as the thing that went wrong right from the start if he does not succeed?

Ask him if it makes him sad to see fat men in Kerry Rhodes jerseys.

Actually, ask him if there is any indication how Ryan feels about Bryan Thomas, and whether he has a future with the team.

How serious does he think the Jets are about going after a QB in the draft - specifically Freeman or Sanchez - and in particular, how realistic is the idea that they would actually trade up to get Sanchez?

For the record, I'm not necessarily in favor of either, but I'm curious as to how much interest there really is because making a move for Sanchez in the first could really shake up the rest of the rounds for us.

Ask him if he's on twitter and what kind of music he listens to.
