What is everyone making for the Super Bowl? Care to share your recipes? I'm looking for some ideas for tomorrow.

Murrell...you defenitly caught me on the right day....because i'm about to unleash the greatest dip recipe that any SuperBowl party has ever seen. In fact, I'm not allowed to show up at my buddy's place tomorrow unless this dip is made. If you like seafood, you'll love this....and it's pretty easy to make.
Shrimp Dip 8oz of Lite Philadelphia Cream Cheese 1 jar of "Medium" Old El Paso salsa 1 chopped green onion 1 shrimp ring -use mixer to beat cream cheese in bowl -strain 1 jar of salsa -dump salsa into bowl w/ cream cheese and mix -stir in chopped green onion and 1 shrimp ring (shelled of course) -if shrimp are large in size, cut them in half -put in the fridge covered up for about an hour. Serve with tortilla chips or your choice of crackers (i eat it with Bretons) This dip is so fucking addictive, man. And the best part is....the fat content is quite low. So if you're concerned about your "gunt" like I am...this dip is pretty friendly. |

haha me too. I have been on a solid diet for 2 years, lost 70 pounds, but I let loose on Super Bowl Sunday. Greesy? Fat filled? Bring it on.

I don't have any recipes to share, but I wanted to say that Super Bowl Sunday I go all out. I get an exception for the diet thing.
I'm not big on wings, so I'm just having an old football stand-by. Cheese Stix (10" dough baked with butter and mozzarella cheese), with garlic powder Curly fries with garlic powder and salt add potato chips and a 2 liter bottle of Sprite, and we're good to go. Probably chocolate for dessert, because I won't have any room for cake. Weird menu, but my friend canceled his party, so I'm just having one with my brother-in-law.

I'm not much of a cook, but chili is gonna be on the menu. I presume this is the usual recipe for most standard chilis.
- Cook up some chopped onions, then add in chopped green/red peppers. - Drop in a pound of ground beef. Cook until it's starting to brown a little. Add in chili seasoning, along with whatever else I feel like at the moment (cumin, garlic powder, paprika, whatever). - Add in a can or two each of stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beans. - Let that simmer for 20 minutes. - Meanwhile, boil some sausages, dice 'em, and add them into the chili. I like to eat it with some garlic bread too. And if I'm lucky, I can watch some Superbowl in between the heartburns. |

We need more SPICY Chili Recipes. This is the first superbowl where I won't be having my dads chili. I need to cook something up.

Oysters Rockefeller
Boars Head pigs in a blanket (I make these with frozen bakery crust and mini-dogs) Shrimp Chips with onion dip Veggies with spinach dip The main dish: Ginger chicken bok choy with cilantro jasmine rice In a wok: Cook chicken over high heat. set aside. Cut leaves off bok choy, set leaves aside, cook stems like celery slices, once softened, add chopped onion and plenty of grated fresh ginger root, about a half to a full cup. Once the onions are clear, add chopped shallots in the wok, then some chopped garlic cloves to taste. Add hot dried red pepper to taste(I use Thai chille pepper), two tablespoons Thai fish sauce, salt (go easy on the salt, the fish sauce is salty) and pepper to taste, put it all back in the wok until heated, then add in the very coarsley shredded bok choy greens (the leaves) only until they turn bright green. Remove from heat. Cook Jasmine rice according to directions, but add two tablespoons of Thai fish sauce to the boiling water. Once rice is done, mix in finely chopped cilantro. Serve rice on the side of the chicken bok choy. Dessert: Blueberry cream cheese cake.

In a thick bottomed pot, add canned diced tomato, some canned whole tomato, cumin, chile powder (most chile powder in the stores are bland, find some hot chile powder or supplement with dried cayenne pepper), a bag of Lipton onion soup mix (you could also fry some diced onions first instead of the soup mix), water, some garlic to taste, salt and pepper, bring it to a boil. Reduce heat to a very low simmer, add meat. Stir occassionally. Cook for 1 hour. Mix some corn meal or corn starch with water until it is smooth and syrupy (the more corn starch, the thicker the chili) and stir it into the pot evenly. Very low simmer another hour. Add kidney beans or other beans of your choice, I like the dark red kidneys, simmer another half hour, add fresh chopped cilantro, stir and serve with raw chopped onion and shredded cheddar on top.

Bisquick Sausage Balls is:
2 cups Bisquick 1 pound sausage 10 oz. pack of shredded cheese (or just shred your own from a block of cheddar) Directions: Put everything in the bowl and mix. This is easiest to do with your hands though it feels pretty gross at this stage. Roll the mixture into balls, a little smaller than golf balls. Place the sausage balls on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degress F for about 20 minutes. The Bisquick balls should be lightly browned wtih the meat cooked through. I doubled this recipe because I have some peeps coming over. I also used spicy sausage as the regular sausage is for girlscouts. |

Interesting choice, but I'd suggest a swap-out. Turn those into fried oysters. For great fried oysters, I could even be convinced to go gay. For a night. And with out all the gay sex. But I'd otherwise be a total flamer for great fried oysters.
