Default Is spam effective?

This morning I watched spam after spam arrive in my email box. I went through, clicked them all and marked them as spam like I always do. It's very rare that the subject line of a spam is clever enough to make me even open these things. Even on the rare occasion that I do get tricked into opening the shit, I immediately mark it as spam without reading it.

I have never once purchased something because of a spam email I received. Have you? I mean, there HAS to be someone buying shit or they wouldn't spend there time sending all these out and creating massive spam networks like botnet to get them out there. I just wonder, if you or anyone you know has actually bought shit because of reading spam?

I wonder, when all is said and done, how much time I will have wasted on marking these annoying emails as spam.

edit: If you have actually bought something, what was it?

A bit off topic, but Spam (the "meat") is up in sales, according to the Today show last weekend. With money so tight, more people are buying Spam for meals.

I have four yahoo email accounts. The first one I got eight years ago, I get about twenty or less spam emails a day. Yahoo has a spam folder that puts most of your spam emails there. Just one click and they are gone. Except that you get some spam into your in box and once in a while an email from someone you know ends up in your bulk folder. But for the most part, it works pretty well and it's free. It sounds like you get every spam email in your in box. You should consider getting another email address from yahoo, hotmail, gmail and only give it to people you know or when you buy from a company you know. Although I get spam from Amazon that I can't stop. Email is just about useless if you get bombarded with spam. I guess some people must buy from spam emails or else they wouldn't be sending it. Some emails have viruses or spyware and then you have the phishing emails.

I don't know what you're complaining about. I won three lotteries just today, each worth several million dollars, and have already written my resignation letter for work. Life is good thanks to spam!

I use yahoo. The spam filter is not very good IMO. It puts real emails in the spam folder a lot, and I get spam in my inbox all the time. I must have received 50-100 spam emails in my inbox yesterday that didn't get filtered. I always mark them as spam too.

The gmail spam filter is awesome. I very rarely get an unsolicited e-mail.

Yes, especially for old people. Some spam filters do a pretty good job.

My inbox is too full of farm-porn and male enlargement emails for me to ever reach any of the spam....
