D'Antoni just named head coach in press conference.
Marbury is spending his offseason hiking in Los Angeles and seems thrilled to be playing for D'Antoni again. Meanwhile, ESPNews reports D'Antoni wants to trade Marbury. *facepalm*

We need a Knicks forum. Hopefully it will be a busy off-season for the Knickerbockers. Glad to see talks of Marbury being traded this early in D'Antoni's reign.

I'm mystified at the criticism of the D'Antoni hiring. Specifically, people are complaining that his style doesn't fit this team, and I find myself wondering, "why the fuck does anyone care what style fits this group of slugs, when they're all dead men walking?"
I do wonder about D'Antoni's willingness to completely suck for two years to get under the cap, which is the only way to get back on top. |

Walsh said on M&MD that, although he wouldn't rule out trading Marbury, he'd never trade a big expiring contract for two contracts with four years remaining.
So, either he's telling us a flat out lie, or Marbury for Diaw/Barbosa won't happen.

I don't make the Marbury trade. That's $21 million that will come off the books this season, because we all know he won't be back once his contract expires. Marbury is too valuable to the Knicks because of his contract. Barbosa/Diaw are nice players...
But with Marbury off the books, Jerome James 7 mil will be off the books in 09'? QRich is up soon? Between Marbury and Jerome James...That's $30 million off the payroll. And you shave off as much payroll as possible and go thru 2 more crap seasons, maybe even capture an 8th seed in 09'. But your focus has to be LeBron in 2010, no doubt. If we can somehow land Derek Rose, and have Nate Robinson backing him up. We can target LeBron or Chris Bosh in 2010, obviously you throw the house at LeBron. I don't mention DWade because of his injury woes. Keep Marbury. Draft good. LeBron in 2010. |

Keep in mind Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade are available in 2010.

Paul is staying put. They have no big money in other players and they can max-out Paul.
DWade I like, he can be a Top 5 player in the league...But his injuries are very concerning, and though he did play through much of it, he always misses games throughout a given season. |

Overrated??? Did you see his performance in the Finals? He killed the Mavs on his own with the only help being Shaq averaging 13 a game. I'll give you the fact that he's injured a lot but thats cuz of his style of play.

Yeah, I saw that garbage....and couldn't believe what I seeing. So many phantom calls, he shot the most FT's ever in NBA finals history. Give me a break. Iverson has the same style of play, never gets injured and is smaller. OVERWADED! OVERWADED!. He's a good player, just not what they wanna make you believe.

He shot at a 50%+ clip...before the finals began the Mavs called him a pure slasher and dared him to shoot and he played out of his mind.

Ok, here's the Knicks situation...
To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily. basically, Freddie Jones and Randolph Morris are free agents now. I doubt either will be back. Next offseason, Marbury and Malik Rose come off. Also: Player options Eddy Curry-10.5 mil (also has an 11.2 mil player option for 09/10) Q-Rich-9.3 Jamal- 9.3 Jerome James-6.6 All these guys are going to pick up their options because they won't get similar contracts as free agents. Team options Balkman 2.0 Chandler 1.2 Collins 1.8 Qualifying offer (I don't know what this is) Nate 2.9 Lee 2.6 The link is clearer, but that's the Knicks contract situation for next year. EDIT: I forgot, Zach and Jeffries are under contract for 16 and 6.4 million for 09/10 Last edited by FlashGordon; 05-14-2008 at 12:49 PM. |

They'd be nuts to deal Marbury's contract after sticking with him this long. It's about time we got some luck, maybe we'll get a top lottery pick and keep the positive vibes going.

So to my understanding...
Between Marbury and Rose, that's a huge chunk. And AFTER the 09' season, QRich, Jamal, and James are off the books? That's another 25 million after 09' off the books... MAX OUT LEBRON in 2010. |

I think King James will end up in New Jersey if he doesn't stay in Cleveland.

When healthy Wade is a big time player but he made a living at the FT line against Dallas where the officials treated him better than they ever have treated Michael Jordan.
