Seattle Seahawks- WR Demetrius Williams, Oregon 64. Pittsburgh Steelers- C Greg Eslinger, Minnesota I know some of you guys aren't going to like the pick of Mangold over Maroney at 29... but you have to realize that he is a product of the Minnesota system and if he did not have that great OL and system he would be garbage. Take it from a Penn State fan who saw him run for a mighty 40 yards on 25 carries last year because his line had a pretty bad game... he needs the blocking to create and he's NOT a franchise running back. Also at 35 I have attitude concerns with Watson and I believe we have spent too many picks on DBs in the past 2 or 3 years to burn any more on the secondary. O'Callaghan isn't as much as a reach as some may think because he is flying up every mock draft I see... he is a perfect RT that is an animal in the run blocking game just needs to work on the pass a little bit (Kareem McKenzie anyone?) Edit: Just searched the #'s on DBs in our drafts and we have taken 5 in the past 2 drafts (Coleman, Rhodes, Miller, Strait, Maddux) and 7 in the past 4 drafts (the 5 mentioned already and McGraw, Pagal). LT is a much bigger need and Drew Brees's shoulder will be very thankful. You see from Chad what happens to guys who have no protection coming off of a shoulder injury... |

I like this draft alot... Here are some comments..
-New Orleans won't take Mario Williams. Good choice by giving them D'Brickshaw. I believe their current LT is about 35. -I'd personally rather the Jets get AJ Hawk. Shaun Ellis and Von Olhoffen are good enough for now. -San Fransisco has Eric Johnson, but he can't stay healthy and a guy like Alex Smith needs all the help he can get. So I like them picking Vernon Davis. - I like how Manny Lawson is rising up draft boards. He may end up Top 15. - I do believe a team will trade up for a Top 10 QB, but if not, then the way Cutler falls is realistic. - I'm glad we pass on Maroney. I think he definatley has the potential to flop in the NFL. Houston/Blaylock/Martin is good for now. I'm on the Cedric Houston bandwagon. - It is unlikely New Orleans will add 2 Offensive Lineman. Give them a OLB or DT in Round 2. -Kansas City can use some secondary speed before they go for WR. Overall it's a pretty good draft though. |
