Carter Chooses Bucs Over Raiders By ANWAR RICHARDSON of The Tampa Tribune Published: March 18, 2008 TAMPA - Tampa Bay defensive end Kevin Carter was forced to make the most difficult decision of his career. Carter, an unrestricted free agent, had to choose between contract offers from Tampa Bay and Oakland. The Bucs offered Carter a one-year deal for less than the $3.8 million he earned last season. Oakland offered Carter a two-year deal with more guaranteed money. In the end, Carter chose his love for Tampa Bay over more money in Oakland and will remain with the Bucs. "It was big money he turned down, but he went with his heart rather than the pocket," Carter's agent, Harold Lewis, said. "A lot of people would have taken the wallet. Taken more money and the guarantees to go to another city. Kevin has been playing for a long time, he's 34 years old, saved a lot of money and found a place he and his family would like to call home for the next 34 years." Carter has played on four teams in his 13-year career. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1999 (St. Louis) and 2002 (Tennessee). His veteran leadership and locker room presence are two reasons Tampa Bay wanted to retain him. Last season, Carter started 14 games and had 73 tackles and three sacks. He recorded the 100th sack of his career against Washington and is tied with Bucs linebacker Derrick Brooks for the longest current streak of games played (208) among active defensive players. Carter's addition means for the first time in six years there will be an open battle at left defensive end. Tampa Bay's Greg Spires entered the past six seasons as the Bucs' projected starter, but with his departure, the competition to play now heats up between Carter, Greg White and newly acquired San Francisco lineman Marques Douglas. "He could have made more money in Oakland, but he just felt like he started something here and wanted to continue to watch it build," Lewis said. "He's never been more fond of a coach than he is of Jon Gruden. "He told me that very few people in life get to write the end to their story. He's looking forward to seeing great things happen here. There are a bunch of new kids on the defensive line and he can't wait to work with them."

One would think he wouldn't have a place to play on that "youthful, exciting, defense" we've been hearing about for these last two years. Crimeny, Jeaux. I'm glad you're back, but you should really treat these first few weeks like the driver retraining you have to do when you get too many speeding tickets.

You'll be pissed at DeAngelo this season more often than not. Sure, Hall is good at running along side people who are running fly routes, but he makes too many dumb mistakes otherwise. I get a lot of Falcons games. BTW, I was just wondering do you EVER read over your posts before you post them?
What in the hell is "SS Gibril Wilson Two OF the best cover lb in the Game"? On another note, why would anyone name their kid so close to gerbil? |

See The beautiful part of playing CB for the raiders is they have another CB N Asomugha 6'2 210(longest ARMs) that probably better than hall. (Probably right behind Chump Bailey) What does that mean. Hall will be on someone else number 2 Wr. To tell you the truth JMO where Hall will have the most benefit is when Teams go three wide. Hall will probably slide inside on the slot reciever(Raiders had trouble there as Asomugha, Routt and F Washington all prefer to play outside. Again Im trying to figure out the negatives of having a 24 year old two time probowl CB on your roster. |
