Who would you rather pick if both fell to pick #35?
I think it depends a lot on Runyan. I am leaning towards McNeil right now, but if he signs, I'd probably take Mangold. I am working on a Mock Draft and I project both to be available at #35. Also, does anyone know of any other teams in the market for a center?

Mangold will be their at 35 but McNeil wont. the bucs will take him in the first round. Even if he did i would take mangold because it is looking like we will sign Runyan.

Mangold will be taken by the Steelers. As for who I'd want, it would depend on who we take in Round 1, and if we sign Runyan or Ashworth.

I'd prefer McNeil to Mangold. I've watched a lot of Auburn football and I honestly believe that McNeil is the best run blocker in the draft.

Assume we don't take D'Brickashaw Ferguson in the first round.
(I am projecting Vernon Davis {insert wishful thinking} and Manny Lawson) So this would be the first OL taken by the Jets. Martin&TheJets I disagree, I think the Bucs go LB like Ernie Sims or DeMeco Ryans. I got that impression from Mexican Buc. I think McNeil will fall now because I thought the Falcons would take Winston Justice because they lost Schaeffer.

Two of my favorites in this entire draft. If both were available at #35 (they may not even be available at #29), I really don't know which way I'd go. Probably Mangold.

McNeil's stenosis is a concern for me, I would rather take Mangold. Besides, he's a smarter player and not as much of an underachiever.

I don't like McNeill. I have issues with oversized lineman. More and more, I think we need to focus on athletic tackles and guards who can pull. Mangold has a nasty demeanor and he has great athleticism. I take him in a heartbeat over McNeill.

Yea it's unlikely in reality for either to fall... McNeill won't get past the Texans at 33 and Mangold will be scooped up by Pitt at 32 or NO at 34.
But in the unlikely situation that they both fall I would want Mangold. There are more veteran OTs that are signable then Cs... as you usually rarely see centers moving in the trade market (although we had Bentley and Mawae this year). Mangold is a talented kid that will be able to start from day 1 and the best part is we won't have to start Goodwin next season. |

Seems like the general consensus is for Mangold.

Stenosis is a problem with his back I think. He's had chronic back problems and plays to upright, well of course he is 6'9. I would go mangold and I agree with what FITM said Mangold won't be there in the second the steelers won't let him leave if you want him you have to take him at 29. Assuming the Jaguars don't take him first.
As for your question about Centers Jaguars, Steelers, Texans and Saints could all be looking for a young center. |

I heard from a Jags fan they may go for some Outside Defensive help either at OLB or DE. I, and many others, have been penciling in a RB there if available. So if there are no good Running Backs, Linebackers or Ends available at #28, then yeah they might go center

Mangold by far, I think McNeill is overrated. And anyways Id rather have either O'Callaghan or Whitworth in the 3rd

O'Callaghan can't stay healthy. He's great when he plays as an excelent pass blocker and run blocker. But what good is a guy if he can't stay on the field.

I like Eric Winston and Max-Gene Gilles a lot more than McNeil and Mangold.

But I still see no purpose in drafting a Guard when we need a Center and a Tackle.

Well, good question Dreessen.
If we get D'Brickashaw at #4 I think that it is obvious. But if we don't than it requires a little more explaining. I think there are a ton of good prospects available at #29 that are not going to be available at #35 and I think that the drop off between OT from #29 to #35 is much smaller than the drop off from the other players. For instance, is McNeil or Winston that much better than O'Callaghan or Scott or Whitworth? I don't think they are. I would love Winston, but there are a few other players that I think will be much better for our team. Some of the players I think might be there at #29 for us include: Nick Mangold Manny Lawson Laurence Maroney Antonio Cromartie Gabe Watson Also, I'm favoring the following scenario as of now: I think it is currently 50-50 between Mario and D'Brick (Assuming we don't trade up). We will have whoever the Saints don't pick. Thus, I think with our second pick, we should take whichever position we didn't take with the first pick. Now I don't mean DE and OT specifically, I mean more like Pass Rusher and OLine. Therefore, if we take Mario Williams I think we should take Nick Mangold, but if we take D'Brickashaw Ferguson, I think we should take Manny Lawson. Than in the second round we can fill in with anything we didn't cover (like take an OT under the first scenario)
