Only two players were selected this year in the supplemental draft.. and by the the way they are saying it it looks as if only one player is selected every year for the supplemental draft. My question is why even have the draft if its gonna only turn out one player. why not just sign them as FA's. The two players selected were Gaithers and Paul Oliver.

I think there is some rule about players from college just being free agents, because they think to many players would just drop out and sign with their favorite team or signing with the team that would give them the most.
You probably have to be out of college for a certain amount of time. Thats why Drew Henson had to enter the draft instead of just being a straight up free agent when he came back to football. |

Yeah, itīs a joke, but the League has to hold it. Think about what happens if you donīt hold a supplementel draft, and let them hit FA. Great Players like Reggie Bush or Calvin Johnson could fail the College standards for purpose, so that they donīt have to go throu the draft and hit FA. Such high Quality players would probably get more Money in FA than by their Rookie Contracts.
It wouldnīt take long till the actual draft would be a Joke, too. |
