The deal was robbery...It is almost like Mike Tannenbaum put a gun to their heads...we gave away practically nothing!

Please have details of the interview...

Is there a way to listen on line?

Penny, change your sig...

And we did give up something. 25 picks is basically an entire round. It's like a late first rounder for an early 3rd rounder. I'm still ecstatic about it, but it's not like we gave absolutely nothing. It's a perfect deal for our needs though.

I know we gave up something...

But what we gave up was practically nothing compared to what we got in return.

Kendall says Jones had some good seasons in Chicago....things got better for him when he left Ariz.

WOW KENDALL HAS A REAL HEAVY ACCENT..... Boston?

Pete says Jones is big and strong and in great shape and mentions his speed and rememebr him having a 75 yard run against the Seashawks once.

He also says he isn't sure what exactly the FO wanted in a back, or in most players...he says they know the type of team they are trying to build...he just does his job.

Wants the line to do a better job of making sure there's a hole where it is supposed to be.

He says it is nice to have a guy that has proven he can produce in big games, wants to make sure the team can get to some big games where he can do that. Says Thomas doesn't just have a few good games in s season, but is consistent every week.

Doesn't know why Thomas hasn't always been a feature back but he is glad because he won;t have as many miles on him.

On D'Brick and Nick - he thinks both will be even better this year.

He dodged the question about what area he'd like the team to improve. He says he'll leave it up to Mike and Eric. He also said Eric's announcement of Chad as a starter didn't really make a difference to the rest of the team, they always saw Chad as the starter.

Says he sees that the Pats have improved....and thats the end.....

I know that you said you liked the deal, but I don't like it when people do the above (sorry to single you out). We actually know that the deal was in fact an early 2nd rd pick (37 overall, not a late first rounder) for a late 2nd rd pick (63 overall, not an early 3rd rounder). Why try and say it is 'like' anything?

Additionally, I'd say that this year's draft is not so deep in the first round, definitely not as deep as last year, and definitely NOT 37 players deep. With how I see the draft shaping up, I see a deep second round, with the talent available at at 37 to be very similar to the talent at 63. Great trade.

I will lose the necessary weight and learn the proper techniques to do multiple backflips if we sign in Columbo, Bowens, and Traylor, and then have the following first day:

25 - Justin Blalock, OG, Texas
59 - Brandon Mebane, NT, Cal
63 - Ryan McBean, DE, Oklahoma St.
89 - Dan Bazuin, OLB, Central Michigan

For those who get a chance to listen, we would appreciate if you could fill us in on what's going on in the interview.

I think the Jets will go CB with the first round pick. I think they will band aid the D line, what with re-signing Hamilton and getting Coleman. I could see a guard, like Ramirez being taken with one of the late second round picks. Since the pass rush hasn't been improved, they will need to get another good CB early.

im amazed he hasnt said ANYTHING negative....usually when a player splits from an organization theres some bad blood. even when he was a little pressed about chicago he was very posative.

hes pretty impressive to listen to.

he said hes really looking forward to playing for mangini. they asked him about how he felt about sharing carries with leon and he just reiterated that he was here to take advantage of his opportunities. he didnt put the mouth on benson or angelo.

he takes film home to study up. hes focused on what it is that will make him a better play, and make the jets better. he really likesthe penguin....

all in all i think hes got a great attitude comming into a new situation. and if his work ethic is half as good as he made it sound....the patsies, phish, and the rest of the AFC should look out.

Thomas Jones on Sirius Radio's Afternoon Blitz
TJ "couldn't be happier, very excited, great team coming off a playoff run"

"team on the rise, from the East coast, it's closer to home, great situation to be in"

Why was a trade necessary?
It was in his best interest, wants to be a leader, productive for another team, thanks the Bears and Lovie Smith, but is very excited to be in NY and has the same opportunity to be successful.

Q: Excited to be the "carry-the-mail back, don't have to look over your shoulder?"
A: Talks about how great Leon Washington is great, made big plays, is just coming here to help the team win and compete with the other running backs, again says he's excited to play in NY, says the fans are rowdy and they made it tough when they came to play here

Q: Good to have some familiarity with the players?
A: It's good to know some guys. Knows Chad, Vilma, a few other guys, will make the situation easier to adjust to.

Q: Do you believe you are the missing piece to the New York Jets puzzle? how can you help them improve and what's your assessment of the NYJ?
A: Just wants to bring some leadership and consistency, great QB in Chad Pennington, guys on defense who can make plays, talks about our "pro-bowl return guy"

Q: How much do you know about Schottenheimer and Mangini?
A: Met with both, playbook will be pretty easy to learn. Mangini is a players coach and a guy you want to go out and play hard for.

Q: Talks about a "Mangini-type of player." Thinks he is a perfect fit. Was that something that interested you?
A: Says he is "like a robot" in practice and the game. Team-first and likes how Mangini is team-first, wants character guys and thinks the guys in the organization are those type of people. Just wants to focus on football and "do what I can do."

Q: Why are you able to be so productive despite sharing the ball?
A: Just focuses on his opportunities. Take advantage of every play, works out hard, studies film, studies himself and other backs. Preparation is a big key for him.

Q: Have you talked to any former teammates?
A: It's a tough situation to leave his teammates and his friends. They were very close friends and he enjoyed going to work every day. There are some negative feelings about it, but he knows he just has to adjust and move on.

Q: Did you know you would eventually leave when they drafted C. benson?
A: Believes everything happens for a reason, mentions how Arizona wasn't a great situation but got the chance to go to Tampa and eventually Chicago, sparked his career and now has a great opportunity in NY.

Q: You are a great receiver out of the backfield. How can you help Chad and the passing attack?
A: I catch the ball over the middle, I can run the routes, learned how to run routes in Tampa Bay. He thinks he fits well with the offense and Chad puts his players in good situations.

He tries to make the best of every opportunity, doesn't like to make mistakes, tries to learn from his mistakes. Takes what the defense gives him. He's been lucky to have a good offensive line in front of him and he takes advantage of every opportunity.

Q: You will get a new contract and job security. What does that mean to you?
A: He feels blessed and happy that the NYJ had confidence in him. NFL is unpredictable. Doesn't want to get anything for free, and wants to earn his contract.

They start BS'ing about TJ taking them out to dinner..

Q: Did you need more carries in that game?? Why didn't they give you more??
A: My job is just to run the football, it's the OC and HC's job to pick the plays. Everyone just does their job. Just has to focus on Thomas Jones.
there you go.

Default Thomas Jones' NFL Radio Interview today.

He is very well spoken and polite, he really seems to have that Curtis Martin-like demeanor, like he doesn't take things for granted or put himself above others.

- He says he is looking forward to competing with Leon in training camp. He spoke as if he expects Leon to get carries too, but thinks he can carry the load, just wasn't quick to expect it. He mentioned that talent Leon brings and said he really wants to provide consistency in the running game.

- He said he is a perfectionist and always wants to do things the best every time. He mentioned that he likes to take tape home with him after practice/meetings and watch extra film on his own time.....stated that he enjoys doing so.

- He said that he is a good receiver partly because in Tampa, Gruden used to make the RBs run all the WR routes in practice. He wants to catch the ball over the middle and make things happen.

- He said he isn't too concerned with what happened in Chicago, he worries about his job and his situation and doesn't concern himself with outside stuff.

- He also said that he thinks he can bring it all game. He doesn't need a few carries to warm up, feels as though he doesn't need much to get his head in the game.

- Said he already knows Chad and Vilma and Coles, so that will make things alot easier in the locker room.

- He mentioned that he is very glad to be in NY and it is a place he had thought of potentially coming to after the Super Bowl when he knew he wanted a change. He's glad that NY is closer to his family, who live in Virginia, and said the fans in NY are really crazy and loud and supportive (from his experience playing here), which he is also excited for.

- He was very excited when he found out that there's an Asia de Cuba restaurant in NY, and told Solomon and Adam that he wants to take them there for the Thia Beef salad.
