Default Why is the 1968 Jets team left out?

The "Americas Game" series has neglected the Jets Super Bowl Team. WHAT THE HELL!!!??? Can anyone explain this? Why would the Chiefs of 1969 be there, but NOT the '68 Jets? Makes no sense.

I've been wondering the same thing. I watched the whole series waiting to see the 1968 jets.

I think they ranked all 40 super bowl winners, and CBS may be only showing the top 20 or something?

The 1968 Jets weren't included cause they weren't a great great team. That's why beating Baltimore was such a big deal,,, CAUSE IT WAS A COLOSSAL UPSET !!! The team had two Hall of Famers,,,, Namath and Maynard.

I'm not positive, but I'm relatively confident they had at least a handful more (Hill, Herman, Snell come to mind, but I can't confirm any of them) who are in the AFL HOF.... They were a talented team from everything I've read, just very underrated since they were in the AFL

They actually rated the team the Jets beat in Super Bowl III as a better team than the Jets were.... by about 15 teams! I think the Colts were rated around 34 or so, while the Jets came in at 48 or something. In '68, the Jets beat that same KC team from '69 in the playoffs. The ranking disparity is a joke.

Yes, there were two future HoF'ers on that team... Namath and Maynard. It's a REAL no brainer that Winston Hill should be in the Hof too though. That team had two WR's that were as good a tandem as any in that era, Maynard and Sauer. Boozer and Snell don't get much recognition because they shared carries so much. Gerry Philbin was a truely great DE, and Larry Grantham is very under rated.... one of the best LB's of his era. That offensive line was one of the best to ever play together in the NFL.

Don't buy into the anti-Jets bullshit. It continues to this day.... remember, we were going to be the worst team in the NFL in 2006. Same old, same old.

They had a really solid TE and Biggs and Elliot were both great as well. That team was loaded with talent and highly under rated. Couldn't agree with you more.

That was ESPN not NFLN who ranked the jets lower. NFLN shows America's Game. The rankings from ESPN have been completely different than the order of teams showed in America's Game.

Ah...gotchya. I don't pay much attention to these stupid sort of rankings. I've seen every Super Bowl there ever was. Many of them seveal times. Half of these clowns doing these rankings haven't. They look at stats, records, yada, yada... and try to parlay their lack of accumen into $. It works.

Why would you say they were one of the worst?

I agree, the '68 Jets were better than at least the '70 Colts, "80 Raiders, '90 Giants, and '01 Patriots IMHO.....

I agree with EVERY word you wrote! I loved GRANTHAM! The guy was reputed to be too small to play in the alleged GREAT NFL so he was with the upstart AFL and was GREAT! Gotta love JIM TURNER too . He wasa agreat kicker and what about JIM HUDSON and JOHN ELLIOT? All tremendous players and so was BIGGS. If the JETS were in the old guard NFL instead of the AFL, all those players wuld be much more prominent and spoken about! Who ever hears about any of them? GEORGE SAUER, Jr was as good as any WR of his era but gets no mention. He was great in SB3!
