Default Parcells Says Worst Loss 1998 AFC Title Game

He's currently on with Mike and The Maddogg and when Russo asked him what was worse, the Superbowl loss to the Pats or the 1998 AFC Championship loss at Denver, with the 10-0 lead at halftime.

He said the 98' loss and this seasons loss at Seattle hurt more...Because the next game would of been Atlanta, who the Jets beat by 20 points and Bill sounded very confident that the Jets would of beaten Atlanta with no problem.

What could have been...

Damn I loved that 98 team. Parcells and the boys were lights out.

The two Van Dyke fumbles were very damaging and the Later was Curtains. I met Keith Byars by the way, after that game in S Fla. (Fixed his Range rover) He said to me after the last Van Dyke fumble the air came out like a balloon. I actually teased him about his Fumble and He called me a die hard.

not to be picky, but wasn't it 3-0 at half? I thought the jets got a TD in the 3rd quarter when Blake Spence blocked a punt and then Martin ran it in.

No, we were ahead and blew it. It WAS possibly the worst loss, because I thought we could win that game. Everyone did. And then Elway did his thing.

But it's also possible that Parcells is blowing smoke now and looking for a new paycheck with the Jets and is therefore being patronizing, which isn't beneath him, so nothing he tells his ass-kissing friends (M&MD) has much credibility for me now. He reads the Star-Ledger like everyone else and is looking for a job.

My wife made lasagne (my favorite meal) for the halftime meal. At halftime my stomach was in such a knot that I could not eat. We were leading the game and had our chance. I remember early in the game John Hall badly missed a FG and the flags on the poles were nearly straight out to the side he missed. The pessimist in me kept saying it is opportunities like that could come back to bite us. After 37 years of this, if we ever make to the SB, I would be a complete wreck. As for Bill, I would agree with his assesment, whatever his reasons may be.

For some reason I had a BAD feeling at the half...... and unfortunately my gut is usually right.

One of my good friends drove up from his home 3 hours south (He's a fan) to watch the game with me. At halftime he's says "Man, why aren't you more fired up, half away from the SB!" My response was "Shit's about to get real bad, I feel it" then proceeded to pound beers to numb the pain that I felt was inevitable. well we know what happened..... at least the end was blurry

on that note, I had the same feeling in the Oakland game, even after they pounded the COLTS. (had a dream about the game 2 days earlier)

1998 was amazing. The best season of my lifetime.

The way it ended was tough, but the Jets did have a 10 point lead with less than 2 quarters to go to the Super Bowl........

Yeah, the 1998 season was definately our year. I think 99 would have been too if Vinny didn't get injured.

Bill, do us all a favor and mean it this time, no need to get up false hopes for another generation...but thanks for the Jets memories, and some may last a lifetime, but the 1998/99 season was a heartbreaker, that I do not want to relive again...and next time? I hope not, why ruin your legacy with the Giants anymore?

Damn people it was an extremely tough loss, I get that. But what? Is it going to just blank out of your mind? That isn't even the worst Jets loss to me, 04' Pittsburgh was.

But this stuff will be brought up like it or not, just didn't know Parcells would put this ahead of his Super Bowl loss to Green Bay, sheesh.

Here's the audio of the whole interview you sour grapes.

No mention of Mangini, but rather Belichick and Payton. Not sure what he's going to do, but he's going to do something.
