Pioli Declines Giants Offer

Patriots VP of Player Personnel Scott Pioli declined to speak with the Giants about their vacant GM job. We're not sure which is more surprising: That the Patriots granted permission to Pioli to talk or that he passed up the chance. Bill Belichick reportedly even placed a call to tell them how good Pioli is. Score one for Robert Kraft, who must have done something to keep Pioli.

He must be making pretty good dough.

But, I also heard Michael Holley talk about Pioli and Belichick, and how there are genuinely close friends. Vacationing, dinners out, golf, and so forth, together. Could be that he just wants to stay with his disgruntled pal.

It was probably just a sick joke on their part, get the Giants hopes up and then just crush them.

I'll wait next season when their contracts end up. I can suffer another season of Coughlin football.

However, I think we can lure Pioli in by getting Parcells to be our GM.

The Patriots released the following statement from Scott Pioli:

"I am very honored to be granted the opportunity to discuss a potential position with the New York Giants. I have tremendous respect for the Kraft family, the Mara family, the Tisch family and the Giants organization. After careful consideration, and for personal reasons, I am continuing in my current role with the New England Patriots."

The only reason I bleieve Pioli declined was because he is close to Bill a lot, or so I read in the Daily News and Newsday.
