And this is why Tim Tebow chose the Jets over the Jaguars. Remember, Denver gave Tebow the choice out of respect for what he had done last season.

Big deal. Coaches make false promises all the time. The fact that there's a thread about a scrub named Drew Stanton is bizarre.

Here's your clipboard, Drew. Have a great career sitting behind the best quarterback prospect to hit the league in forever. Sorry you almost had to be all nervous here.
Jim Sorgi relived. Best job in the league.

Seems like he should want to start. He has no credibility on that issue after going to play behind Luck.
Problem with that statement is how many teams were actually offering him the chance to play aside from the Jets? I can't blame him for being annoyed, this was really his only chance to play.

And I do believe the story, why else would the the Jets get him, then turn around and trade him a week later when Tebow arrived? Not to mention when the Jets did sign Stanton, Tebow was still in Denver with Peyton still not having decided.

A) This wasn't just the coach, it was the GM too.
B) You don't want to make it a habit of lying to players. Especially on declining teams, you can get away with that bs if you're Jerry Reese.
C) I don't even think it was a lie per se. If the Jets coaches were so anxious to get Tebow, why haven't they played him yet? This was foisted on them by ownership.

He's pissed bc he couldn't even beat out McElroy for the 3rd spot.

I thought he was traded? He just asked to be traded, I don't think he mentioned a specific team.

Eh I think he chose NY over JAX for a lot of non football reasons too. If he wanted, he was starting in JAX if the rumors were correct.

Isn't every player signed to a back up spot told there would be a chance of playing? Isn't that what it means to be the back up?

So he just goes wherever? Then I suppose he should have just played in NY, like Tanny suggested.

But no, he demanded trade. And he was happy enough with Indy. Which is fine- whatever makes him happy. But he doesn't need to spin it as "it was because I wanted a chance to play." He has virtually zero chance now

I'm not sure he was happy enough with Indy. That's up for the discussion. He asked for a trade, but you think he OK'ed the trade to Indy? I think it's more likely Indy was the only suitor and Tanny said fine I get a 6th rounder out of this. I highly doubt Tanny asked him if Indy was OK for him.

I read though the article quickly, but I don't think he's spinning, he probably came here because Tanny said there is a chance he could play. And with Tebow coming, there is probably less of a chance since if a QB change were to be made, most people would push for Tebow over him even if he was second on the depth chart.

The problem I have is that Stanton is clearly saying this to jump into the spotlight and take advantage of getting media time. He clearly wants to be relevant so he is jumping on this situation and adding onto it.

I would've done the same thing if I was Stanton. They basically lied to him in order to get him to sign.

I don't think they lied. They didn't have Tebow at the time so they made a statement knowing Stanton was the #2 guy. Once Tebow came, Stanton realized things changed, but as he said Tanny said, they wouldn't have traded for him if they knew Tebow was an option.

He realized his opportunity to play was gone and wanted out of NY. He ended up Indy which is a worse spot, but he wanted out of NY and he got it

No need for Stanton. McElroy needs to be given a chance once Sanchez flames out.

Well yeah, they didn't really lie to him, but they broke their promise. That is extremely low class, and I'd be very insulted if I was Stanton.

Stop it. Just stop. Please. Tebow did not have any f'n choice in the decision-making. He's acknowledged as much, without pissing off New York Jets by suggesting that he doesn't want to be here. - 'caus, although he may have preferences, i don't think he really gives a shit where he is located. He just wants to play. And, i'm not even suggesting that he didn't want to come to New York- so, don't go off half-cocked. Simply, Elway had no f'n concern for Tebow's preferences, and was making a decision based solely on business ( where can we send him without contributing too much to the competitive superiority of another team; and in consideration for what we can get for him) to suggest anything otherwise is just false.
