I was specifically thinking about the run offense, upon which Rex says the Jets will depend. I don't see how Holmes being in on fourth and one would have made a difference, and that was one of the key plays in the game. Holmes might not have even been on the field that down. OF COURSE I expect an improvement to the O when you insert Holmes and Kerley. I just don't think they will be enough to move the O up from awful to anything better than mediocre. WHich is too bad, because I think even with an average O the team could go far. |

The O struggled in 2002 preseason? it was great which was one of the reasons why we had such high expectations.

Remember when there was talk of Dirk Koetter replacing Schotty?
Well, it's only preseason, but the Falcons offense is looking unstoppable, and Matty Ryan is looking better than ever. |

Their O will be excellent in the reg season as it always is. That's an O that was SHUT OUT in the WC rd last year, an O under Ryan which has never won a playoff game. Gwet back to me in January abou their offense.

I love how last year all the pundits were saying how a playoff win would validate Ryan's greatness in the league but continue to shit on Sanchez, who has been in the league one less year and has led the Jets to four road playoff wins.

sure, if holmes is on the field. we are more dangerous. but i dont think he really changes how teams are going to play us. they arent going nickel because holmes is on the field. they arent going 3 deep cause holmes is on the field. they arent going to rush just 3 guys cause holmes is on the field. we cant protect the qb. thats an issue. and because of it teams wont respect us passing the ball. regardless of who lines up out wide |

I think it’s going to get ugly on offense – especially against good defenses. Mostly because we don’t have an actual ground and pound or a relevant passing attack.
But we do have: Quarterback runs like a chicken with his head cut off and pound. Strangely enough with our D that could win us a few games. |

It's nice to get guys the QB has chemistry with back.
New York Jets @nyjets #JH Sanchez with a nice 5-yd TD pass to Jeremy Kerley. Kerley hopes to return to action this Sunday after missing first two preseason games. If the offense looks like shit this Sunday I'll be really worried. They should be able to move the rock w/Holmes & Kerley back and EZ pass not starting. The Panthers D isn't very good either.

Holmes most definitely changes how teams play us. A deep threat to compliment him does a lot for us. Obviously we can't get the deep ball going if the line can't protect, but saying teams won't game plan for a play maker of Holmes' caliber is absolutely silly.

it wont make a difference in how teams play us. not a chance. yes, teams will be aware whenever he is on the field. but again, your not gonna go to a nickel or sub package because you are scared of holmes. your not going 3 deep because of hill or holmes. your not dropping 8 into coverage because of holmes. we need alot more talent on the field and alot more playmakers to make teams respect our passing attack. right now, they know they can pressure us, and they know we dont really have alot of guys that are going to blow the game open with explosive plays. im not saying teams are going to blitz 8 guys and leave holmes 1 on 1 with no help for 45 snaps. but at the same time, holmes isnt changing anything they do defensively. |

Holmes and Hill together, will, provided Hill can develop and contribute at some point this season. You have to respect the deep threat. We didn't have one last year so teams double and tripled Holmes every game or stacked the box on us so we struggled to run it as well. Do teams game plan for Larry Fitzgerald? I guess not.

This offense is not good...Kerley, Turner, Conner, a bad O line & no running backs behind Greene is very shaky...Take the under...

santonio holmes is not larry fitzgerald even so, with arizona having line issues of their own and no other skill players of note, it isnt difficult for teams to stack the box and still account for fitz. |

There is not one player on the offense who strikes fear into an opponents' defense.
Holmes is past his prime. Hill is still a dream. Greene needs a great offensive line. Sanchez is, well, Sanchez. |

Like any fanbase, some of you need to step off the ledge, others need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid, and kudos to everyone else that has been levelheaded. It's the preseason and you guys have some injuries that accounts for your offensive struggles.
Do you have things to worry about such as your RT? Of course, but every team has issues to worry about. Buffalo's linebacker play has been underwhelming and Aaron Williams has been terrible as our second cornerback. Not putting up preseason points is not of major concern to me and I don't think it should be for any team. Russell Wilson led the Seahawks on six straight scoring drives last night, but I'd be willing to risk a large sum of money that he doesn't do that at all in the regular season. The Jets and Bills will each be fine in week one. They will have a lot of wrinkles both on offense and defense and I think it'll be a close game. Ryan has been excellent game planning against the Bills so there's that too. After the Bills-Jets game last year, every team followed the Jets blueprint of challenging Fitz to beat them deep. |

I suspect that we'll realize at some point during that game that the Bills have at least caught up to the Jets in the AFC East. That's not good news for Jets fans at this point. The Bills are now the team that is spending big money to put new pieces on the field around their somewhat suspect draft picks of recent years. That used to be the Jets role in AFC East power politics. |

Finally the Bills appear (it's far too early to guarantee this) to be drafting well with Dareus, Williams, Sheppard, Gilmore, and Glenn are all starting for the Bills with quite a few mid-round contributors. While I suspect it'll be a close game, the Jets could win in a blowout. That said, it doesn't necessarily mean one team is superior to the other. Every team has those "What the hell?" moments once or twice a season. Are the Bills getting closer to the Jets and Patriots? On paper the answer is yes, but the games still need to be played. |

Merril Hoge said Jets are looking to get 5 wins and average 10 points a game with their offense. And that the defense has not been fixed stopping the run and letting teams into the endzone.
Ok Merill. Wish "Experts" on Sportscenter could be held accountable for what they say |
