3rd and short is just about the only situation in which going to Tebow makes sense. If the offensive line does its job even remotely competently, he's a lock for 2 yards right up the middle (although not much more than that.) Which is why it drives me insane when they run Tebow up the middle on 2nd and 10, then try to have Sanchez throw on 3rd and short.

When you look at the teams that have a high YPC, most of them employ a more sophisticated running game. I honestly can't recall seeing us run trap or counter plays this year, and that's "how to run the football 101" stuff.
What you hope is that the front 5 create enough space for the full back to engage the LB and/or the RB makes somebody miss. Then as the game goes on...those 2 yard push backs become 3-4 yard push backs & those LBS start getting tired from filling holes/taking on lead blockers.

Of course..you obviously want to mix in some trap/counter plays..but again..you have to have the horses.AThleticism on the interior. Neither Slauson nor Moore are very good at trapping/pulling & the CS has been hesitant to give Vlad alot of playing time.

One huge problem is that as best I can remember, we run an awful lot of 1 back sets with Sanchez handing the ball to Greene and Greene going up the center.

What's really strange is that we actually did what I'm talking about in the Colts game.
