Best part of this thread: The guy with the Nate Silver "Math" avatar dismissing WAR for ERA and WHIP.

Good point.

Yes, a guy with less hits, home runs, and rbis and has a lower batting average and ops should get the MVP. Dumbest thing I've heard all day.

For the record, Kershaw & Gio are both in t-shirts while Dickey is in a suit. R.A. wins style points. #Mets #RA4CY

Dickey wins. Congrats to the Mets and the first knuckleballer to ever win the Cy Young Award.

I'm thrilled to be proven wrong. Also surprised that Price beat out Verlander.

Good for Dickey, he can cash in on a big deal now. Fuck the Mets though.

Yup. Sign a multi-year deal and see if you can get a movie deal.

The guy has such an amazing story, sexually abused as a child, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro , helping those people in India. I can't think of a better story in baseball this year then Dickey.

The Mets should trade him. They'd be able to get one, if not two top prospects back. I'd do that in a second.

Would this be the first reigning Cy Young winner ever traded?

No, it's happened multiple times.

Montreal traded Pedro on November 18, 1997, immediately after he won.

Toronto traded Roger Clemens after he won the award (in February, before the following season began).

And I think there's more.

His contract ended but the Mets had a team option on him for 2013, which they obviously exercised.

I'd say it's more likely than not that he gets dealt.
