There's no chance Dwight doesn't re-resign at season's end. Kobe Gasol and Nash will all retire sooner rather than later sure but theyll basically be able to retool Miami Heat style on the fly with all the cap space.

Fuck Orlando. They're gonna have AIDS for the next decade.

Saw this summary on twitter: So Deron Williams went to NY, Melo went to NY, CP3 went to LA and Dwight went to LA.

Interesting point, Dwight and CP3 both are FA's next year. Team up in Dallas? Or stay where they are?

I'm still a fan, but looking at without Blue and Orange glasses I put BK slightly ahead as posted above.

And yes I call myself a Knicks fan. I spent Knicks games basically talking to myself in the Knicks thread
Even without Shump, the Knicks are better on paper than BK. Amare/melo is better than dwill/Johnson

Amare at 100% yes. When was the last time Amare was at 100%, probably 2010 playoffs game 1 against Boston.

I really think Chris Paul is out of LA. The Clippers were hot shit last year, not true contenders though, but the Lakers have already taken back Los Angeles. Chris will definately test Free Agency.

I think Brooklyn is better than the Knicks, I like that they have a solid center, elite PG, and elite shooter.

Knicks might have more talent but they dont mesh as well as the Nets will.

Chris and Dwight will test. I will be shocked if both resign when they both can test and go make their own team.

Who's the elite shooter? Joe Johnson? Elite is overstating it. Very good, yes.

Congrats to Lebron for winning his 2nd gold medal. First triple double in team USA history, not too long ago Finals MVP and NBA championship. If he doesn't win the TIME man of the year award, something is wrong! All respect for the guy, I just hate that he plays for that scumbag team. Melo played pretty well throughout the olympics as well. I hope he brings that back to the team next year. The offense needs to be built around him with everyone feeding off of him. Woodson will get er done.

He looks so relieved. He had the pressure and media/fans hating on him after being loved his whole career.

12 million each year for 4 years. Humphries got 2 for 24 I believe? McGee in the same ballpark I believe.

This isn't even the max Ibaka could have taken I read. Harden might still be in play amazingly.

I disagree, the Thunder now have 44 million tied up on 3 players. That leaves about 13 million for the rest of the roster.

Good move by Thunder though, Ibaka will be more important than Harden for the long term. Now it is ultimately up to Durant and Westbrook to get better, the Thunder must improve internally.

And to compare to the the Heat, the Heat have about 46 tied up between the big 3 so I just dont know....

I forgot Perkins is in a 3 year 27 million left in his contract so that leaves about 4 million in cap space. I just dont see how this can get done, im not a luxury tax genius but from what I understand, if you go over the cap the payment double and im not sure if a team like OKC has the money considering the Knicks wouldnt even go near the luxury tax with Lin.

Fast forwarding to the 2013-14 season, the Thunder will now have $57.1 million in salary commitments to Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins and Thabo Sefolosha. Keep in mind, the salary cap for the 2013 season currently stands at $58 million and it is uncertain if it will increase or decrease in the near future.

This will be very expensive to keep Harden now, they will have to spend like 30 million a year just to keep Harden, I think with the new luxury tax the salary doubles so if they pay him 15 million, then the Thunder would have to pay 30 million total, and if they give him 4 years that would about 120 million.... The new luxury tax has very hefty penalties, hell the knicks avoided those penalties because they were to much, lets see what the Thunder do.

That's assuming they keep Perkins who has a 8 and then 9 mil cap hit in 2013 and 2014.

The amount of luxury cap the Thunder pay is probably 1.75$ since they will be up to 10 million over the cap making no other moves before resigning Harden.

Sefolosha also makes 3 million and is an UFA after 2013 (Expiring contract).

They have a lot of wiggle room IF they want to resign Harden

The bold is wrong. The luxury tax had NOTHNG to do with it. The Knicks have paid more luxury tax in the past after fielding a 20 win team. The luxury tax, NO influence on Dolan's decision.

Lin reupped to get more money and hired his own PR, Dolan got pissed since he only wants players that "want" to play in NY like Felton who was supposedly mad he was being traded in 09. And Amare who wanted 100 million uninsured and Melo who well I guess he wanted to play in NY.
