I did a little reading about Berry and he appears to be one troubled young man. Some info from a series of stories published here during the off-season on detroitlions.com-

"He... was suspended a couple times throughout his college career for off-the-field incidents."

"He... drew headlines with an ill-advised tweet ripping fans for their displeasure in his play after the (Lions- NO Playoff) game.... He said he learned a lot. and is now just focused on getting back on the field and competing for a starting spot".

I guess he didn't learn enough. He was arrested for DUI a couple months later in June. Berry then issued a statement that said in part: “I promise to do everything in my power to make sure this never happens again. I understand these are just words and it will be my future actions that ultimately will speak for me."

Suprisingly, he was arrested again less than a month later (resulting in his release from the Lions), this time for brandishing a firearm from inside a vehicle, according to police.

That is ALOT of baggage! He might've seen the light but I'd be very worried about giving him a very responsible position until he's shown he's reliable.

I wonder if we let him have a couple weeks to adjust to the system and we saved him for the Patriots game since they will be throwing it all over the place.

I doubt he's dumb enough to do it again after 2 strikes, but I know people that have so you never know. I don't really care, he's a last minute fill in.
