throughout the history of the NFL, great players have been available to every team drafting at the end of the first round, from Joe Montana and Tom Brady to Emmit Smith and Terrel Davis, so there is nothing bad about any pick in the first round. teams have made shitty picks and passed on great players. but that is indictment on the decisions, not the pick.

That doesn't change the fact that the higher the draft pick, the better your odds at picking a star player.

True, but if you look at top 10 picks historically, or more specifically the top 5, the number of busts compared to later picks is lower.

that said there is no such thing as a true sure thing.

true. I am just discussing the idea that a pick not in the top ten is a shit pick. it isn't.

The main disadvantage of not being a top 10 pick is more difficulty in trading and down getting real value in return. But in this years draft who knows lol.
