Ewing is a 6-0, 179 lb. corner who only played one year for Boise State, making four starts. He had 26 tackles last season. He was a star in the defensive backfield and special teams in high school, so that experience could help him make the fringes of a roster or practice squad. He was dismissed from the team for "failing to live up to the standards of the program", so he's a mystery until teams can interview him one-on-one.

Baylor WR Josh Gordon
In 2010, Gordon had 42 catches for 714 yards and 7 touchdowns for Baylor before transferring to Utah. He never played for the Utes and now he's coming into the league with some question marks. From NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal, "Gordon is likely to receive the most attention from media and teams in the buildup to the draft. I spoke with former NFL scout (and current NFL.com analyst) Daniel Jeremiah on Monday, who said that Gordon is building some buzz among teams. At 6'4" and 225 pounds with good speed, Gordon looks the part."

Syracuse RB Adam Harris
Harris is not a character concern, unlike most in the Supplemental Draft, but rather he's had concussion issues which forced him off of the field in college. Instead he chose shot put with the Syracuse track and field team, so he's remained competitive and in shape. He's a former linebacker at Cornell turned fullback with Syracuse, so he could be that all-around athlete that a team takes a flier on.

Iowa State T Adrian Haughton
Haughton is a 6-4, 360 lb. tackle whose size will gain him instant notice in NFL front offices. Little is known about him other than he apparently played in the Arena Football League with the Orlando Predators this past season.

Carson-Newman LB Larry Lumpkin
He's the Eagles best defensive player, but Lumpkin (6-0, 240) had academic concerns that forced him to miss his senior season. He had 94 tackles his junior year for Carson-Newman.

Georgia DE Montez Robinson
Battery and criminal damages charges against Robinson got him dismissed from Mark Richt's team back in 2010, and those legal troubles might make him the shakiest of all characters in this year's Supplemental Draft. Robinson was once named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week and was being transitioned to outside linebacker at the time of his dismissal, so there's some potential here.

McMurray WR Houston Tuminello
The 6-0, 190 lb. receiver played for two years at Louisiana Tech before transferring to McMurry, but from there things get hard to find. In those two seasons, Tuminello had 22 catches for 193 yards, so it's a limited sample size. He left the team for personal reasons in the fall of 2009.

TCU RB Ed Wesley
Wesley has some of the best production of any of the players available in the draft, which will make scouting him much easier than the others. He had 120 carries for 726 yards and 6 touchdowns for TCU last season, but left the team due to "family reasons." Dane Brugler of CBS writes, "Wesley (5-9, 200) has good vision, anticipation and decisive movements as a runner, but isn't overly elusive. He has battled the injury bug over his career, especially to his shoulder after missing three games last season. Wesley isn't guaranteed to be selected in the Supplemental Draft, but he was considered a mid-to-late round draft pick after his junior season."

Keep in mind, even if the Jets don't draft someone..many of these players will become UDFA's. Jets acquired Safety Tracy Wilson in this fashion last offseason. This all falls into Tanny's "No stoned left unturned" philosophy.

Anyone heard any news on Georgia safety Baccari Rambo? I know there was talk he could enter the supplemental draft, but that was awhile ago

I know this sounds dumb, but why is there even a supplemental draft? Also why would teams be willing to give up their like 3rd round pick next year to get a guy that didn't even go in this years draft? Enlighten me please.

They are players that for whatever reason were not eligible for the actual NFL draft. Due to a drastic change in circumstances, they are allowed to enter the supplemental draft.

Terrelle Pryor is the easiest example. He was set to return to Ohio State at the time he was required to declare his eligibility for the NFL Draft, but then the circumstances changed and he was given permission to enter the supplemental draft instead.

These guys didn't go undrafted, they weren't eligible to be drafted. Now they are eligible in the supplemental draft. Most years, players aren't drafted in the supplemental. However people are occasionally drafted, and some even make significant impacts. Rob Moore was drafted by us in the 1990 supplemental draft.

Rob Moore is the best example. San Diego's Jamal Williams is another guy who went.In fact, the Jets were rumored to have interest leading up to that supp draft.

I posted this six years ago, hence the references to the '06 supplemental draft-

Players in Supplemental Drafts are those who did not enter the regular draft in April because they have some sort of college eligibility issues. They may have thought they were still eligible to play college football later that year and then a few months later they find out they are ineligible. Almost always there is an academic or disciplinary problem and the player cannot go back to college football, so he enters the NFL Supplemental Draft.

In the 2006 Supplemental Draft, the same draft order applies as in the regular April draft. The Jets will be 4th again. They do not have to bid on Jason Berryman or Ahmad Brooks. They can just say to heck with both of them.

For argument’s sake, let’s suppose the Jets want Brooks. The Jets might decide he’s worth a 4th rounder. The Jets would submit a 4th round bid to the commissioner. If no other team places a better bid, the Jets would be awarded Brooks. The Jets would then lose their 2007 4th round selection.

A couple examples-
RB Tony Hollings was taken by the Houston Texans in the second round of the Supplemental Draft in 2003. In the 2004 NFL Draft, the Texans forfeited a second round pick.

The Jets selected WR Rob Moore from Syracuse in the first round of the 1990 Supplemental Draft. Therefore, the Jets forfeited their 1991 first round draft selection.

I could see why Washington would spend a late pick on one of RG3's receivers, but beyond that, not a very good crop of players.

Usually, there's at least one or two guys worth spending a 2nd-3rd round pick on for some team.

... and that selection might have been Brett Favre. The Jets tried to get him with their second pick but, as we all know, had to settle for Browning F. Nagle.

I'm surprised the Bengals burned a 2nd on Gordon, especially since next year, there seems to be some pretty good WRs that should come out.

The guy is large with good size, but his speed doesn't seem anything exciting. Although I'm guessing they are hoping he provides size next to AJ Green.

It was the Browns, not the Bengals.

Ugh, brain fart! Thanks.

That makes it even more surprising since that's a high second most likely.

This has to make Plax pissed too (That the Browns would rather forfit a likley high 2nd round pick instead of pick him up). I love the fact that Plax hasnt even sniffed an offer. That fucking cancer

Plax lost his speed, all he really has is the size right now, so he's more of a situational WR (red zone) than a No. 2 or 3, but probably doesn't want to admit it, so he stays out on the open market. Also, the league seems to be turning away from malcontent WRs that are on the downside of their careers. We saw TO get shut out from offers even though his last season was productive.

But yeah, does say something where teams consider the young guys more and more, which probably speaks volumes about the advancement of speed in the game, and how the older guys gets phased out faster.
