I have no problem w/ the heels as a 3 but I have a problem w/ UT ahead of them as a 2 in the same region and UT going to Greensboro.

Once again, the selection committe does an absolutely terrible job. Air Force getting in was a joke. Same for George Mason and Utah St.

How those 3 teams get in over Missouri St, Cincy and Cheighton is a mystery.

Also, if GW was ranked #6 overall how do they get an 8 seed?

Also, when will Jim Nantz get a clue? Why is it so hard for him to understand that just because the MVC gets as many teams as the power conferences doesn't mean that the selection committe is rating them as equals.

Got this juicky tidbit from the AP...

This will be the 27th tournament for Arizona coach Lute Olson, tying him with Dean Smith and Bob Knight for the most in NCAA history. It is Olson's 22nd straight appearance with Arizona, moving him within one of Smith's record set at North Carolina from 1975-97.

How does George Mason get an 11 seed, and the Hofstra Pride, who beat them twice in 11 days down the stretch, go down to the wire in the Conference Championhip, and get their best player punched in the balls by a player on George Mason in the meantime, get the boot? I'm miffed.

Can someone explain the selection process to me? I thought I had at least this much figured out.

Have to disagree. We have the BE and B12 conference champs, the hottest team in the country in Cuse and the toughest 2 seed in Texas. Also, like MSU last year, Texas will have revenge on its mind after we pasted them earlier this year. I hate rematches of regular season games, its hard to beat a team twice in a year. I don't understand how Texas was labelled the worst 2 seed on the S curve, behind Tennessee?!? I'd rather have any of the other 2 seeds instead of Texas

We also have as the 8 seed a team that was ranked 6th in the country just a week ago.

UNC-MSU will be a great game, I planned on taking the Heels far in my bracket but now I'm not so sure.

nyjunc it looks like a rematch could happen sooner than we'll think, hopefully with the experience factor and the fact that it is in Ohio, we may have an advantage should be a great game though, but the weakest bracket has to be the Oakland region, not thrilled by the fact that MSU is in the Uconn bracket but hope that my team's rival can take care of them, although if we are on the top of our game we can beat anyone

You only have the BE champ, UT lost to kansas for the B12 title and i think duke would feel pretty confident playing texas again.

We both know SU will be out by the weekend, that was a nice run but they are not good enough to sustain that and to top it off they get a 5???? They were out of the tourny and now they get a 5???? The 2 seeds all are extremly weak but you might have the toughest of the bunch but not by much.

The difference is MSU almost beat you at Cameron so they knew they could beat you, you guys embarrasssed texas.

I agree w/ that.

That is mising their best player. You are the only 1 seed to have an 8/9 game w/o any major conf teams. IF Pops can play then I take it back it's not easy but as long as he is banged up and either can't play or is limited then you guys have a pretty easy draw.

I am very nervous about that one, MSU has struggled but that have talent and have a great Tourney coach. This is why I am upset w/ UT being ahead of us, why should they get Greensboro and a 2 seed when we have the more impressive resume?

That's also not fair, why should we be the higher seed and have to play MSU in Big 10 Country? Oh well, time to stop worrying about that and worry about Murray State. I don't want to get ahead of myself and count it as a win.

Billy Packer and Jim Nance have absolutely no clue.... how dare these two tools of the ACC/SEC question the integrity of the tourney commision. I love how they point out what Bradley's non-conference schedule or George Mason's was but yet they fail to mention that Florida State who had a non-conference SOS of 318 Yes 318 non-conference SOS and they question Bradley who by the way the big boys refuse to play except in a down year. Not even ona neutral court. Like the commish of the MVC said yesterday, if these guys think we're over-rated go ask LSU, Iowa, Indiana, Nebraska if the MVC is over-rated who all BTW lost to MVC teams on their home court. Go ask Illinois who needed a last second basket to beat Witchita in Champaign. Gary Williams if you could win the MVC why won' t you go play at Creighton and SIU next year? Don't hate on the MVC because they have fgured out how to beat the power conferences at their own game.....

Now I'm done with my rant...

Some things that surprised me

Air Force, yes I have been a supporter but in no way does AFA deserve in over Cinci, Creighton, Hofstra or Missouri St

Utah St. I like what Stew Morrill does and I am glad the Aggies will get the chance to scare the living hell out of somebody in the first round but I thought Missourri State deserved in over Utah St.

Tennesse being a 2 and LSU being a 4.... The Tigers beat the Vols by two games in the SEC. LSU played at Ohio St at UCONN so I know their SOS was higher. UT lost their 1st game in the SEC tourney and LSU advances to the Semi's yet the Vols are a 2 ahead of LSU who btw has no walkover in the first round. My prediction the Vols will show how much they deserved the 2 seed by losing to Winthrop in the first round.

George Mason, yes the Colonial did deserve 2 bids but they picked the wrong team. Mason lost to Hofstra twice in a ten day span including the conference tourney. Throw in the fact that Masn will be w/o it's 2nd leading scorer and the Patriots will be carved up in the first round.

^^^

You bring up a great point about the distribution of home and away games for MVC teams. Almost all of the games the MVC teams play against the power conferences are road games.
