Getting ready for the annual Big Splash again this year. Released Scott, Pace and Smith to make room for the next Brett Favre/Plaxico Burress-like offseason ticket-selling tantalizer.

But we've been there. Done that.

The old timers would have weathered that (and very often did, for years a n years and decades even) and still came back year after year and paid their STHer bill.

But not now. You dismantled that asset but good when you fucked them over unmercifully. So now you're at rock bottom with massive defections in all three levels. the uppers are going because this is the last straw for them after how they were fucked around. And the lowers are leaving because they got snookered into buying into a worthless program of "pay us up front for the future privelege (and obligation even) of paying thru the fucking nose for tickets."

So the ticket office is probably like, "Boss, we don't know WTF to do anymore. The only phone calls we're getting is from PSL guys who want out or UDers who want better seats or they want out too. We're not getting ANY phone calls for new ticket sales... only cancellations. What should we fucking do?"

And Woody is standing there with his thumb up his ass asking himself the same question.

Something has to be brewing. My guesses of things that would be a step in the right direction:

1. Drop ticket prices by $20 across the board for the entire stadium.
2. For upper deck comp out preseason tickets. Every team in the NFL makes you buy preseason and there is probably something about selling tickets. If they comped out the tixx and gave them to us for free we would have nothing to complain about.
3. Half off parking again.
4. Those coupons should include beer. I refuse to drink inside because I have to drive home and also because I refuse to pay the price of a 6 pack for crappy beer.
5. Allow people with PSLs to transfer their balances to someone else instead of only allowing transfers if paid in full.

Not sure if they would do any of this but those would be a step in the right direction.

Only time those things came in handy was the home opener I wanted a Rita's Ice and bottle of water.

The other day I found some old ticket stubs from the old place. Prices were around $50 in 2000 and $95 in 2010 for my seat location.

After the 2007 season when prices by me jumped from $70 to $75 after a 4-12 season I had friends who were number 6,000 on the waiting list get a call for tickets.

I remember looking forward to the mail that updated my wait list position,,,,then getting that phone call from the jets saying I Finally had gotten season tickets ! Man I looked forward to that and we were so excited when we actually moved up on the list ,,and then lost our minds when we " were " actually season ticket holders !

Fast forward to the new place,,,,so excited to actually get tickets,,,,,thought my only shot would be upper end zones but wound up with upper 5 yard line,,,,was so excited,,,,,,-------then the tours with the reps and the actually year with those seats in that warehouse

What a difference a few years makes huh ? They could offer me free uppers and I would giggle and say no thanks . It used to mean something to have jet season tickets !

from Jetsinsider.com

Ticket office sent out threatening letters to PSL holders who are in default. They had 10 days to pay their payment, or else they would lose rights to tix and full balance of PSLs would be due immediately. 10 days is now up, so in guessing they will be making announcements soon.

Wow. Let's see how this plays out.

Are any of you on this list? Know anyone? That sucks. Glad I stayed away from all that.

Just realized what they can do to encourage ticket sales this year!

It's so freakin' obvious I am surprised no one here has thought of it yet, I mean it's a great incentive to renew AND to get in the spirit of our beloved New York Jets - one of the best NFL franchises in New York. Drum roll please……

.
Is this a fact or internet rumor?

If true, I'd love to see a copy of the letter and be able to examine the exact language.

The part about "full balance due" rings true enough, because I can imagine a lawyer linking payment default with triggering an immediate demand for full balance paid. Whether or not the Jets would pursue that avenue is up for question, but no doubt the defaulter loses any and all portions of monies paid to date.

But the Jets really have no choice but to send out such a letter. What are they going to do? Remain silent after the due date and not say anything to the PSL holder? They've GOT TO send out a notice, if for nothing other than legal reasons of notification that the STHer is going to lose his/her money already paid. Now the STHer is on notice, in writing, that he is in default.

A letter like this has the added benefit of goosing some of them into paying, albeit late. They get the letter and go, "Holy shit, they're coming after me! Maybe I'd better send in my money again for these worthless freaking tickets that I can buy on StubHub for half the price."

Default Personal Seat License Agreement

Here it is off the NY Jets website:

The original language is very specific and quite daunting.

Default NY Jets Have The Right To:

(ii) terminate the rights of Licensee under this PSL Agreement (A) immediately upon written notice to Licensee, if the failure or default is not capable of being cured (e.g., a breach of Section 8(a)) or if the failure or default represents a repeated failure or default, or (B) ten (10) days after giving notice to Licensee, if such failure or default is capable of being cured and Licensee fails to cure within such ten (10) day period.

Upon termination pursuant to this Section 9, (w) Licensee will forfeit all monies previously paid to JSD hereunder, (x) Licensee will forfeit the PSL for the current (or upcoming) NFL season and all NFL seasons that follow, (y) JSD and its affiliates will have no further liability or obligation to Licensee, and (z) Licensee’s obligation to pay the outstanding balance of the PSL Fee, if any, shall be accelerated, making the full outstanding balance immediately due and payable. JSD thereafter will have the right, but not the obligation, to relicense the forfeited PSL. Any amounts JSD receives from such relicensing shall not reduce Licensee’s obligations to JSD or entitle Licensee to reimbursement or recovery of any amounts paid under this PSL Agreement.

(b) The foregoing remedies shall not be to the exclusion of any other right or remedy set forth in this PSL Agreement or otherwise available to JSD in law or in equity. Licensee shall be responsible for all attorneys’ fees and costs incurred by JSD in the enforcement of this PSL Agreement. LICENSEE HEREBY UNCONDITIONALLY WAIVES ITS RIGHT TO TRIAL BY JURY IN ANY ACTION, SUIT, PROCEEDING OR COUNTERCLAIM RELATING TO OR ARISING OUT OF THIS PSL AGREEMENT.

Man if the Jets have to chase these PSL defaulters I hope they turn around and have to kiss our asses. Which means PSL ers in good standing will probably take it up the ass over a barrel. Sorry folks

so the jets set it up so they would be happy that people bailed. hey you paid us 5 of your 10k psl fee. thats cool, were gonna take that... then were gonna sell it again to some other asshole from our 30k season ticket holder waiting list. boom double bang.

shame is they couldnt get half price on the psl at this point and will be sitting there with a ton of empty seats.

And I said this posting would close a week after our initial home opener against the Ravens. The next few months are going to kick ass with the invoices and all the personnel moves coming. Its gonna get hot in here.

H'mm wonder if just may be Woody has given up & decided to sell the team & is now dickering with someone over the final price to be paid which is why all you guys wringing your hands that the 2013 invoices have not been sent just yet. My god you all sound like 5 years old that had your lollipop taken away. Look just plain common sense tells you that sooner or later you will receive your invoice so my suggestion to all of you now pouring out croc tears just save your money to pay the bill if you are going to renew when the invoice arrives

There's that background noise again. I've got to call my HVAC guy and get him over here to look at my heater.

Yes, the Jets' legal team set it up the way it should have been set up. A default makes for a very pricey penalty for the STHer and an advantage for the house. They made it as advantageous for themselves as could possibly have been made advantageous.

And in good times (say we are always PO contenders, finishing north of 10-6 every year) this is a real advantage, since the PSL could readily be sold fairly easily to someone else waiting in the wings and licking their chops at teh opportunity to buy a real, honest-to-goodness, valuable-as-hell Jets PSL!

But now, times are not good. And we finish 8-8 and then 6-10. And we have many other problems, so it's looking like we don't have much hope to finish north of some of those numbers. Our QB question is looming big time, as well as lots of other holes to fill now. And it looks like even our best strength, our DEF, is questionable b/c we've dumped 3 starters and Revis, our kingpin, is increasingly more agitated at the thought of being traded. And so this team does NOT look like it has prospects of being a SB contender anytime soon.

Which then reflects on the value of said PSLs in today's marketplace... something the Jets never thought of in the original language. Keeping the buyers' money and then selling the PSL to someone else seemed like a great fix for a default. Except that now, people are scoffing at the PSL price (and ticket prices, which can be had at 50% of what they are charging). And reselling these fucking things is not going to be any easy task... not at teh original selling prices.

So yeah, the ticket office is in a complete dither right now and not knowing what to do. They're starting where they need to start... sending our notices to the doofuses who are reneging and threatening them in the hopes that that will diminish the number of defaults. Then the 2nd phase is to look at the defaults that are not salvagable and try to determine WTF to do with them. So this explains the delay right now. They are waiting to see the effects of the 10-day official notice of default and then going from there.

In the meantime, the phones are ringing off the hook from UDers wanting to know if they are getting another upgrade or incentive program (like parking, preseason abatement, etc) and if not, "then I'm fucking outta here."

They kissed our tushes last year and are going to have to outright lick them this year in Macy's window at Times Square on New Year's Eve. There is no fucking way UDers will fall for silly discount coupons for overpriced shit in lieu of cheaper tickets and parking and upgraded seating.

With the UD Seniority people, they need to entirely rethink their actions for the past 4 years and start from scratch: "We realize many of you are unhappy and we want to keep you as customers. Please contact our office for a complimentary seating upgrade at 20% off, half-priced Preseason Games and free Yellow Parking, all on us this year."
