And to the point of him not speaking about special teams, I guess you don't remember the years when then they couldn't kick a field goal for their life.

What kills me is that they spent a 4th rounder to get the guy, paid him $2 mill, dedicated a roster spot to him, talked up his role, and then completely ignored him! They said we didn't want to unveil the Tebow package in preseason because it was a secret when in actuality, the guy wasn't getting any reps at all. According to Westhoff and our play, this continued into the season because when he did come in, it looked like a Chinese fire drill. Were they just trying to make opposing DC's work harder by forcing them to scheme for Tebow (and take away the focus on Sanchez)? Talk about an expensive decoy! Were the few reps Tebow got merely intended to maintain this ruse? Why did we keep up the ruse for 14 weeks if it clearly wasn't working? Holy crap what a stupid idea! Not only that but it backfired since it was clear that a few teams that schemed for the Tebow package (most notably Buffalo and SF) kicked our ass with their own version of the wildcat.

I am glad someone finally went on record. Our middle linebackers are slow, and aged. The middle of the field was definitely an issue. I am glad someone finally called Sanchez a manageable QB, and not the answer.

So Westoff is complaining the Jets D is soft when they have to play the long field, so they will give up good field position and Mark and the O then gets the ball at the 10?.. LOL... he is complaining the D makes stops but it is at the cost of good field position? this is a passing league, why would anyone be surprised that an average D will give up yardage in a long field. Who in the world complains when the other team doesn't score on any drive? I'll take it any day on change of field position as long as other team doesn't score. Good gosh. And the special teams are the ones that downs in the 10, so Westoff conveniently skips that point.

Why is this article on the front page listed as Westhoff unloading on the team? Come on people! I know this site is owned by a darksider, but seriously, why not put news about the GM search or something that maybe DOESN'T make the team look like a circus? Whoever posted that is just as bad as Manish or Cimini or any of them, ignoring what's actually happening for childish drama assuming the worst. Weak.. and he didn't bash the team or unload. He explained it like it is.

Now the media is saying Westhoff is burning bridges? Like really? He's saying things that Rex and Woody know, but won't tell us.

It seems like he was just being brutally honest. I don't feel like he was being a dick just for the sake of it.

Now in all seriousness there is zero news about a GM but an ex coach that was here for years says somethings that are undeniable and not just speculation but facts-----I think Westy had a right to say it, he was on the money with what he said and I am curious what any other explayers or coaches have to say . These comments shed light on the inner workings of the organization and although others might not care or be interested in how this Jet circus operates ,,I am

Westhoof is looking to gain traction in a new career, the Jets are an easy target now that he has no aspirations of coaching again = you knew this was coming from him. He's coming on Francessa's show soon.......that's evidence enough of his agenda.

The ruse wasn't to fool other D's as much as it was to fool Season Ticketholders into renewing yet one more, pitiful, painful year. Another carefully calculated move by Woody to stem the tide of defections, cancellations and PSL defaults yet one more year. I'm waiting for the next round. We need to bring in yet another circus act. People are walking away from their Season Tickets in droves. And so the Clown Show must continue... |

His points seem pretty valid.
Defense struggled at times with the long field, but tightened up very well on the short. Special teams execution was terrible, but he didn't focus too much on that which i found odd. We showed no creativity in using Tebow's strengths in any capacity, or on offense in general. Sanchez was not able to essentially step up, when talent and injuries around him required an increased dependency on elevated QB play. The only issue i have was reading he is open to coach again outside of NY. wtf is up with that? I'd love to have him back on the NYJ. |

Why did the media have to print what Westoff had to say? They are just looking for ways to make the Jets look bad.
In fact I bet they put a lot of words in his mouth. F the media! |

Westhoff has earned the right to say whatever the fuck he wants
And he just happened to be right on all accounts. |
