Trade: Jets 1st round (#9) to Cinci for 1st round (#21), OAK 2nd round (#37), Cinci 4th round (#115)

Why Cinci does it: The only needs Cinci has are OC, ILB, OLB they see a chance to upgrade their defense with Manti Teo who despite his poor performance in the national championship he still lead his team to a national championship. I feel like when the dust settles after the NC Teo will once again be recognized as a superb prospect.

Trade: Jets trade Cinci 1st (#21) and Jets 3rd round (#77) for NO 1st round (#15)

Why NO does it: NO doesn’t have a 2nd round pick this year and are in a dire need help in numerous positions they just need to gather as many picks as possible

Trade: Jets 4th round pick (103) and Cinci 4th round pick (115) for Seahawks 3rd round pick (88)

Why Seattle does it: Seattle built themselves in the latter rounds and love late picks

2nd round: #37 from Cinci & #39 from NYJ

Draft:
#15: Chance Warmack OG: Jets had to trade up to draft him before Dal and STL. Warmack will take over for Moore and instantly upgrade the o-line

#37: Giovani Bernard RB: The only team who I expect to draft Bernard in the late 1st/early 2nd is Cinci but since we now own both picks the Jets get lucky and get the top RB on the board who adds explosiveness to a team in desperate need.

#39: DeAndre Hopkins WR: My top WR on the board. Good size (6’1) and speed (4.4) and was a major piece in Clemson beating LSU in their bowl game. Ideally the Jets wouldn’t need a WR in the 1st 2 rounds because Holmes, Hill, and Kerly should be a solid top 3 however Hill hasn’t shown much and still needs to develop and Holmes is coming back form a serious injury and will be cut after next season. This pick makes a future receiving core of Hopkins, Hill, and Kerly (not bad)

$115: Brendon Jenkins DE/OLB: the jets desperately need OLB help and Jenkins was a border line 1st rounder before his lisfranc injury early in the season. Jenkins can play 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE which adds value to his stock as the Jets will like run both

5th round: Mike Williams TE: Fantastic blocking TE from Alabama who some believe could add weight and become an OT. He has the size to develop into a decent red zone target due to his height (6’6)

6th : Alex Hurst OT: He didn’t play in LSUs bowl game for personal reasons, if he decides to come back to football he could be a good back up OT and extra blocker in jumbo sets. He’s huge and is a monster run blocker at (6’6 340)

7th: Kenny Tate SS/OLB: Always been a fan of this kid he has some major injury concerns but he can be a solid player taking over for Eric Smith as a nickel backer due to his experience in both positions.

I'm not a fan of mocks with lots of trades, but at least you move up and down to adjust value while getting extra picks, not just a bunch of move downs to get 6 or 7 day two picks.

Your player values are good and the players fit our needs. Most jets fans would flip over a draft haul like this.

With the top OTs besides Joeckel all dropping out, I would not be surprised if Warmack is gone by then. As far as the Bengals go, they still have to spend about $35 million this year to hit the salary floor, so they will likely be active in FA. Hard to say what their needs will be when it all shakes out.

There is some good reasoning here, and I like your picks, but if you really want Warmack, best to not eff around and just draft him at 9.

I agree with this- not a fan of multiple trades, but at least you traded back up instead of trying to get a ton of 2nd and 3rd round picks like we see a lot.

Love the first 5 picks. The first 3 are some of my favorite prospects. Also really like Michael Williams as our future #2 TE that could be paired with an athletic TE so we can run a lot of 2 TE sets- for instance, if Nuk isnt there in the 3rd, a pairing of Eifert and Williams along with Warmack and Bernard would do this team wonders on offense.

Overall pretty good. If it ended up like this I would be very happy.

I would love a daft like this. DeAndre Hopkins is quickly becoming my favorite receiver in the draft class and I love Warmack and Bernard.

I see no problem with trading down in a mock as long as you can provide a logical reason why the other team trades up. to me, if your going to do a trade up or down mock you have to be able to ask yourself honestly if you would make the trade if you were the other team. I know when I make a trade down in a mock I always ask myself that question, and usually the answer comes out to be no on most of them, it's why when I do a mock it's often moving back 10-12 spots when my initial desire was to move down 4-5 spots but couldn't find a trading partner. I know in most of my previous trade down mocks, most of which were never posted, I used the top end OT's as trade down leverage frequently and sought teams that were in the thick to compete now, had tight salary caps and really needed the position in question.

Which is why I like this draft, it has trade down's with valid reasons, and the trade up makes valid reasons for both teams as well. I do disagree with taking a RB with the first pick of the second round, but that's mostly just my preference to grab either Aboushi or Warford there.

Alex Hurst hasnt been playing at LSU since late September, no one really knows what happened to him. I dont think he will be drafted

It's not so much that I oppose the pick of Bernard but rather the fact that I believe the best way to improve the running game is to improve the O-line drastically. Unless you have a Barry Sanders or Gayle Sayers who can make something out of nothing consistantly you need an O-line that can open holes on a constant basis. In my opinion we're more than just a guard away from that point. Granted Warmack would help tremndously in that regard, but it still leave the other side of the line very weak. Which is why I love Warford as a 2nd round pick, especially if we drafted Warmack in the first, the middle of the Oline would be fantastic at that point and would improve our current running game dramatically. Plus can take a RB in the third that is more explosive than what the Jets currently have.

But that's just my opinion.

The only team IMO that would even consider Warmack in the top 10 is Arizona but their major issue at OT not OG they will probably go with a major reach and grab Fischer. After the 9th pick I don't see him going to:

Titans: because they have a major need to replace Finnegan and they will likely go with DeMarcus Milliner at #10. Warmack is a consideration here but the shut down corner is to much to pass on in today's NFL.

Chargers: Would go Teo if the Bengles hadn't traded up in my senario. Free agency will tell if the Chargers plan to go with Warmack here. Both their starting guards are free agents and if they are retained the chargers wouldn't draft Warmack. They would be look at a OT or could go Hankins too

Miami: Doesn't have a need for OG, they have a need for OT if Long walks or WR

TB: they have 0 need for guard help, more likely to go CB

Panthers: have a need at OG but they have a massive need at DT and take advantage of an extremely strong class

With regards to Cinci's spending in FA: when you look at this FA class it is very weak at line backer the best options are Urlacher and their own Maualuga, who should be upgraded anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if Teo was drafted even if Urlacher is signed allowing Teo to play OLB and learn from Urlacher until he retires.

Well, we are clearly in rebuild mode this year. You take the 2013 season to draft young offensive players and unload all of the horrible contracts. In 2014 you are hopefully in place to get you franchise QB and you then have an actual offense in place for him.

Thats the right way to do it.

Considering the draft class and FA's, the Jets will not be winning the Super Bowl next year so it doesn't matter. This year, we build up our o-line which will make a big difference to the run game (You can't run if the blocking sucks) and the LBs. Next year, we draft a QB, a WR if we can get a good one, and we'll be set.

I dont think Aaron Murray is a 1st round prospect, but Nick Fales could definitely be and supposedly Brett Smith. Also, Logan Thomas would have to improve drastically to become a 1st round prospect.

I actually dont think the talent is as bad as people think it is, I think its a lot of raw talent. Remember pre season many had Tyler Wilson, Tyler Bray, Landry Jones, etc as first round picks. Yeah it was pre season, but you dont just end up in that mix without showing some level of upside
