Did they give a reason for this?

I haven't seen anyone being denied with a 796 score.

I just called and they said I got denied because I had too many accounts (four) with a balance

ah, they flagged you. That's a bi-product of people who max out their cards and then go into debt.
Now they are not as lenient, which I can understand.

But, What good is having good credit if you can't use it?

The thing is I pay in full all my credit cards every month. I even have a Capital One card (the Best Buy card is from Capital One), which I am now thinking of canceling...
It's just funny that I can get approved for a mortgage or a car loan but not for some shitty credit card

I've heard stories of dead people, infants & pets receiving credit cards in their names. I guess you better try and reach for perfect credit. ;)

I got rejected for a American Express for my first credit card...I was thinking big time right away. I had to settle for a Capital One.

I had a guy call me from Discover the other day telling me they were closing out my account. I had no idea I even had teh card. Hadnt used it in AT LEAST 4 years.

The guy says he'll give me a chance to explain if there have been any hard hsips or reasons Ive taken out other credit lines of late. They were closing my Discover card because I had too many other CCs.

So I ask him to explain himself over again. He says, look, we have to close this card cuz u have too many other cards but if you give me a good reason why u opened the other cards, maybe we can keep it open.

He sounded like my th grade teacher or something. Obviously I laughed and told him to shove the card up his Brahman asshole. WTF are these companies thinking? I should explain myself to them to keep their piece of shit card?

I travel a lot for work so I have one card that I put all biz expenses on.

Then I have a Jetblue Amex that I buy shit and pay off just to rack up more miles.

Then I have 2 cards with great APRs that I use if I wanna buy furniture or big items etc.

Well, I use AMEX for 95% of my purchases. Then, I have Macys and Bloomingdales cards that I use only in those stores for the discounts and coupons that come with these cards. I also have a MC that I use where AMEX is not accepted.

Dang pet thats too many cards. its not the frequency of use, balances - its that there are multiple open accts.

good thing with amex is that u gather the bonus points and pick a gift when u want.

thats how i got an ipad and other goodies

I applied for my first credit card recently. I went on the Wells Fargo website, put in my information, and applied for the card it suggested. I was then denied a couple weeks later.

Jerks.
