I missed it, I looked for it to DVR but it wasn't on again, I will be on the lookout.
It was a kid in the 80s so I wasn't plugged in to recruiting, I don't think I ever heard of him.

This is exactly why the NCAA is garbage... kid unbeknownst gets a discount on a hotel for his birthday party and gets suspended for 3 games yet for the 2nd time in the last 13 years Dook used a player that should have been ineligable for benefits violations (Corey Maggette says hello) and the NCAA does nothing....
Fenton is suspended 3 games for getting a 250 dollar discount on a hotel room that he didn't even know about Lance Thomas had to know he was getting a favor on his 90K ice. Fucking ridiculous. To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily. It came out recently that New Mexico guard Jamal Fenton was suspended for three games for an NCAA violation. At the time, the only detail released was that it was a “minor NCAA violation regarding an impermissible benefit.” Now we know exactly what happened. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Fenton received a $250 discount when renting out a hotel ballroom for his 21st birthday. He paid $500, when the ballroom normally costs $750. Fenton insisted he did not know he was getting a discount. “Not knowing I already got the discount, [the hotel sales representative] told me the price and it sounded like a good price for me,” Fenton wrote in an email to the New Mexico compliance office last April. “If I would have known the real price, I still would have got it.” The hotel sales rep told compliance officers that Fenton did not ask for the discount, but the hotel lowered the price once they became aware it was for a New Mexico student-athlete. Any extra benefit from $100 to $300 requires a three-game suspension, while Fenton also had to pay back the benefit to a charity of his choice. While the penalty seems harsh -- especially considering Fenton claims he didn't know about the extra benefit -- it is consistent with NCAA guidelines. Fenton, a 5-foot-9 senior guard, averaged 6.5 points and 2.4 assists last season. He will sit out the season opener against Davidson, and also miss two games at the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands.

Everyone knows the NCAA picks and chooses who to punish. It's a joke, but no one does or can do anything about it so it will continue.

They were playing Pace so the fact they looked good as a group is tough to be truly confident in. But certain things you can see regardless of who they are playing. Coleman is going to be a beast, he is big, fast, strong and just athletic as hell. Christmas has the rotation down in the zone, and understands how to play the 4 this year. Sutherland appears to have his shooting stroke back. This team will be damned good before long, and it's going to be another hell of a year for Cuse basketball. Hopefully they play well against SDSU. |

Runnin Rebels struggled in their scrimmage against Dixie State last night, took it into OT. Blew them away in the 1st half but I think Rice is running sets that will intentionally lead to poor play so these guys won't buy into the preseason hype. I'll worry if we struggle against Northern Arizona on Monday.

Wouldn't surprise me, I hear a lot of chatter among Rebel fans that Issac Hamilton is very interested in UNLV. Supposedly he and his brother are taking an un-official visit to UNLV this weekend. I guess Lawrence hasn't even visited UNLV yet.

Shabazz Muhammed owned by the NCAA. I feel bad for the kid but after how he and his dad played with UNLV and then threw us under the bus at the end I don't feel to bad... as far as his dad goes.. fuck him. You play with fire you're going to get burned.
To view links in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. Your post count is 0 momentarily. LOS ANGELES -- UCLA freshman Shabazz Muhammad has been declared ineligible for competition after a lengthy NCAA investigation determined he had committed a violation of the NCAA's amateurism rules. An NCAA news release Friday night stated: "Muhammad is not eligible to compete in (Friday's) game due to violations of NCAA amateurism rules," and it made no mention of future games. UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero said Friday night before UCLA's season opener that he only knows that Muhammad has been declared ineligible at this time. Guerrero said the school would immediately appeal the NCAA decision and seek to have Muhammad reinstated. If the NCAA reinstates Muhammad, a specific penalty, including number of games, would be issued, Guerrero said. "First, things first, we're looking to challenge the decision in the appropriate manner and we'll do that," Guerrero said. "Right now, the only determination that was made ... was that there were violations of amateurism." Muhammad, the national high school player of the year last year and the top recruit in a UCLA class ranked No. 1 in the country, was found to have accepted travel and lodging during three unofficial visits to two NCAA member schools, the NCAA statement said. Those visits were to Duke and North Carolina and were paid for by a family friend, a source unauthorized to speak publicly on the matter said. The friend, a financial advisor, is the brother of an assistant coach of Muhammad's high school team in Las Vegas. The NCAA allows for such benefits provided they come from someone with a pre-existing family relationship. Guerrero said the NCAA deemed the relationship with Muhammad's family and the financial advisor fell outside those parameters. "It was determined that that relationship would not have allowed the support from that individual to allow the family to receive the benefits that they got," Guerrero said. The NCAA statement said the organization had reviewed "thousands of pages of information" and that it had interviewed Muhammad's parents last week. The NCAA rendered its decision "within hours" after consulting with UCLA on Friday afternoon. The NCAA said it had requested documents on July 31 but did not start receiving the documents until Sept. 25. It received more on Oct. 10 and "additional critical information" on Nov. 1. "We believe the decision is incorrect and unjust to Shabazz," Guerrero said. "UCLA will expeditiously pursue its options to challenge this determination." Guerrero said UCLA pushed the NCAA to make a ruling before the Bruins season opener and praised the NCAA for doing so. He said that bodes well for a quick resolution to determining Muhammad's status for future games. "We feel that they will try to work with us to try to facilitate whatever approach we take," Guerrero said.

The Heels are 2-0, it hasn't been pretty which was to be expected w/ such a young team but they won both. If they could hit FTs the games would have ben hughe blowouts but they were putrid from the FT line. On Friday they head to Long Beach St before travelling to Maui for the Maui Invitiational beginning Monday night.

Barry, SJU is about to owned by the NCAA again. The NCAA loves to go after us and I'm not sure. Rumors are abound that our big JUCO pick up, Orlando Sanchez, is going to be ruled ineligible.
It's a complete joke and this really hurts us. |

SU used a stong inside game to beat SDSU yesterday. The game was just ugly and hard to watch. I was surprised SDSU did not stop tryng to hit the 3. They were 1 for 18 but just kept taking them. The elements clearly hurt SDSU more. A win is a win. SDSU will be good this year just not outdoors against a bigger opponet.
