All this big talk all summer about Mark Sanchez being the guy and how it was Wayne Hunter's fault, Shotty, Rex, Tannebuam, Santonio Holmes, the Milk Man ... after two games, already its time to talk about who's next? Really? Hey man, if Sanchez is this supposed stud, you got to ride it out for the season now; you're stuck with him. He got his extension. Jets brought in Tebow and made him a Punt Protector. Sanchez is the guy. Time to take your medicine like a man, strap a pair on, and let the kid sink or swim. Time to take off the diapers.

Whoever is thinking about replacing Mark this season is an idiot plain and simple. Peyton Manning had an awful game last night against the Falcons in their stadium, I don't think people are jumping off that ship. It all comes down to execution not just from the QB. Everyone is so quick to blame the QB for everything. Now Sanchez didn't play well Sunday, but it takes a team effort to beat the Steelers in their stadium. People always talk on this board like the QB is solely responsible for everything - that's not the case not with this Jets team and for the most part it's not like that for 90% of the NFL teams.

Ftr I like McElroy, though. Anyone but Tebow. I can't wait until he's off the team.
The more I read Big Blocker's comments, the more respect I gain for him... First off, I do agree that 2 games into the season is too soon to be putting up this thread. I would have put up this thread based on his entire time here! I had high hopes for Sanchez when we moved up in the draft to pick him, but for a multitude of reasons, which his fans have put forth over and over again, he has not proven he was worth the draft pick.

I for one am ready to give someone else a shot and would prefer that someone be McElroy, since we have him in-house. I watched him play his entire time at Alabama and honestly believe he can win with the Jets. Noodle arm, only able to manage the game, just handed off at Alabama, talks too much for a rookie, whatever other reason people on here have for hating the thought of him running our team.

GIVE HIM A CHANCE and then say "I told you so" if he's a complete flop. At least then you will have a legitimate reason for disliking him.

I agree with you about Big Blocker's comments. At the end of the day the question posed by the thread maker has not been answered. Because I do not belive the Jets have any other options at this point. Furthermore I agree with you about Giving McElroy a shot. However, I do disagree with you about his body of work at Alabama. While he did hand the ball off alot, I remember him completing a lot of balls to Julio Jones. So he showed me he can throw the football. He also did this in arguably the fastest conference in college the SEC. So if things do not work out with Sanchez, I would be all for giving McElroy a shot. But again, this conversation is premature....

Sanchez just does not make enough plays for me. I see this as a make or break year for him. If nothing else, the Jets should draft a QB to groom for the future while they patiently wait for Sanchez to become more than just mediocre.

Well, thanks for the nice comments, but ftr and going back to some comments like by 1985 I am ONLY talking about McElroy under two different circumstances.

The first is if Sanchez can't play due to injury. Now this is one of my main objections to the whole Tebow thing. The concern was how would working Tebow in at the same time a new OC is here, putting in a new O (of course how much of THAT has gone on is a whole different subject), AND prepping the backup Qb. Well who really is the backup Qb here if Sanchez got hurt? I have yet to see anything to suggest Tebow would work as the starter with a passing attack and the players the Jets have. We know his ceiling in that kind of role. We don't know McElroy's. The problem, though, is I doubt there has been much effort working with McElroy to prepare him to step in and run the O. Can anyone say Brooks Bollinger and remember how Chadwick and Fiedler went down in the same game?

The second, which is hardly worth mentioning here, is if at some point well down the road here in the season it looks like Sanchez is not going to stick here, better imo to see what McElroy can do than waste time on Tebow.

But for the second, like I said, way too early, and hopefully Sanchez stays healthy and gets it done.

I'm glad that we do have a few members on here willing to give McElroy a shot. As for that part about "Noodle arm, only able to manage the game, just handed off at Alabama, talks too much for a rookie, whatever other reason people on here have for hating the thought of him running our team." Those are the reasons the McElroy haters are giving for not playing him. I too saw him pass for distance many times.

I understand what you are saying... yes, it is way too early right now. I was just pointing out that we do have a QB in-house and don't need to look elsewhere if the season goes south or injuries occur.

Tebow starting, whether by design or default (meaning because Mark is hurt) would be a new low for this franchise, even worse than the Kotite era. if it happens, hopefully it won't last too long. I can find things to do for a few Sundays there, but hope it doesnt go on too long, if it happens.

But I agree the "logic" of all the publicity that went along with the Tebow trade makes it unlikely they would have hte balls to keep Tebow on the bench and see what they have with McElroy.

Hey this is no prediciton taht McElroy is a sure thing. Not at all. But we know Tebow will not be the answer.

"how things are now". Interesting. 1-1 in a 4 way tie in the AFC East. Sanchez had a great game and a weak game. That warrants Tim Tebow to the rescue? I think Sanchez will handle business in Miami provided he doesn't get rattled in the head again. That was brutal. As soon as I saw it, I was like, "I don't care about the 15 yards, I don't like that hit at all". I'm surprised he didn't get a concussion from that. Game over. I still trust in Sanchez. We all need to send him positive vibes. Quit holding the man back! We also need Revis!

Barcs,

I think "how things are now" is too ambiguous, and you point out one way to read it. But thought he meant in terms of if Sanchez is not out there for whatever reason, "how thiings are now" means the politics and optics of everything would mean Tebow would start over McElroy.

Which imo is the opposite of what should happen.

But that is too theoretical to warrant much discussion at this point, imo. At this point Sanchez is the starter and should remain so for the foreseeable future. If "how things are now" means Sanchez can play, he should play, end of story.

In fact I would shitcan the wildcat plays pretty much.

Sanchez was 4/5 60 yards 2 TDs the plays following the wildcat in week one.
The wildcat was 3 plays for 27 yards (net) in week 2 when the rest of the offense passing was 6 of 22 for 58 yards through quarters 2-4

there is no "logical" reason to stop using it other than your personal bias against Tebow . However Rex and the gang do not really have any plans for it anyway (read below)

I understand you hate Tebow and its obviously personal, but to say you wont watch games is asinine. Tebow has never had a losing record as a QB at any level including the NFL. You make it sound like Tebow is 0-16 as an NFL starter .

Say he sucks throwing the ball and the offense turns into ugly ball and also go ahead and say he is not an NFL QB all you want but don't pretend your going 0-10 with him because that is just stupid and has no basis in reality whatsoever.

I also do not agree that Tebow would be the starter instead of Mcelroy, Rex , Sporano and Tanny DO NOT want tebow at QB, Tebow was woody's idea (a good idea but just Woody's). That is evident by the way he was used last week. Rex and Tanny and Sporano have no ideas about ever letting Tebow play more than a few snaps in order to appease Woody, that is obvious after the passing game went 6-22 for 58 yards for 3 quarters and the "tebow-circus cat" went 3 plays for 27 yards and then was yanked for the rest of the game (obviously a bone head decision based on not wanting Tebow in the game).

Rex might as well start wearing a ghostbusters style shirt with the red circle and the x across Tebow's face during the post game conferences. So don't worry about Tebow anymore he is a non factor on this team by design (Jet's loss because he could have been very effective in the change of pace role).

If Sanchez tanks (and I personally do not think he will) get ready for the Mcelroy era because even if Tebow is next up he won't really have the organization behind him (Denver 2.0 ).

Neither has Sanchez. Tebow in no way shape or form is more of a winner than Sanchez. Tebow went 1-2 in 2010 and including playoffs is 9-7 as a starter so this whole Tebow is a winner thing needs to cool down a bit.

The Jets are still trying to figure out the best way to use Tebow. Its going to take some time. Right now that really represents a lot of things on this roster.

How much time does Tebow get? What about Mcintyre and Powell, how much more time do they get? Should Ducasse play more snaps? This team is in some flux but that doesn't mean that these types of questions won't get answered.

Can we all at least enjoy one big positive, the Pats Lost

Look at the Pats next five games

at Baltimore
at Buffalo
home vs. Denver
at Seattle
home vs. Jets

without Hernandez, they could be in some big trouble. That loss to the Cardinals was huge because I could definitely see 2 more losses in the next 5 weeks.

I don't think anyone wants Tebow to start, but if he can gain yardage against a team we are struggling with, why not? Yes he throws ugly, but he can throw and he can run. He is an offensive weapon and we shouldn't keep him on the bench just to keep Mark from having a bitch fit.

I am not in disagreement with you at all my post was in reference to Tebow and Mcelroy and Big Blocker saying he wont'watch games if Tebow is in the game over him.

As I understand Sanchez's contract, despite the fact that I think this year is his make or break season, he will be the starter in 2013. Just because of the guarenteed money for 2013 and there is no cost savings in cutting him. If he doesn't break out this year though I expect the Jets to draft a QB early in the next draft and work him in during the 2013 season.
