Default Anyone feel sorry for Mangini?

Poor old Eric. Gets a 9-7 season, misses the play offs and is shown the door.

Rex could end up with 9-7, get the play offs and will be lauded as a hero!

I was quite 50/50 on Mangini but I can't help feeling he didn't get the breaks that some coaches do.

Not at all. Rex didn't blunder an 8-3 record to finish 9-7.

Matter of fact, we should have been 8-8 if it wasn't for JP Losman.

The difference is that last year we should have been better than 9-7, and this year we should have been worse.

And no. Not one bit. I'd only feel sorry if he got hired by the Raiders.

Eric's a good coach.

After seeing Kellen in for Mark, is it any wonder last season ended the way it did.

Eric will be on the sideline in Cleveland opening day next year.

But Rex did lose 5 of 6 in the middle of the season to the likes of Buffalo and etc.

Rex didn't have Brett Favre behind the helm either.

Mangini may have saved his job by winning the last 4 games? It wouldn't shock me if he is retained and the Browns start to turn it around in a couple of years.

Uhm, did you actually watch the Jets last year??? Do you not remember how utterly dreadful favre was down the stretch of the season??? (regardless of whether or not the arm injury had a major impact - i assume it did)

I have long maintained mangini is a good coach and deserved another year after his starting quarterbackgave away 3 of the last four games of the season. As it turns out, his strong finish in Cleveland this year will likely get him another year. We'll see where the browns go from there.

I feel worse for Holmgren. Now he saw Mangini win 4 straight meaningless games against teams that fizzled and he's probably gonna keep this guy around. A guy that trades his best players. That being said, Cleveland looked good against a deflated Jacksonville team today.

He mentioned "midseason" loses by Rex. If memory serves, Brett didn't shit the bed till week 12, which is my point.

Thanks.

but then your point doesn't make any sense, lol.

Put another way, how much better of a record than 8-3 would you have expected Mangini to have through 11 games before his quarterback starting giving games away??? The point is, when the season was on the line, Favre stunk it up and he was the single biggest reason we weren't in the playoffs last year.

Then you make the unpopular choice, and you sit your starter. You can't start him, and have him throwing go routes. Regardless if Favre threw them on his own, he shouldn't have been in the game.

UP till that point. Favre OUTPLAYED Sanchez through 11 games, hands down. How can you even compare?

Biggest difference for the coaches is Favre and Sanchez. Last year was supposed to be a win now and this year is win in the future. Also our D is much improved and thats why we wanted the rexecutioner.

Uhm, yes, through 11 games Favre totally outplayed Sanchez. We all agree. AND THROUGH 11 GAMES THE JETS WERE 8-3. Again, for your logic to make any sense at all, Mangini would have to have not had that kind of success with Favre playing well (But because he had the Jets at 8-3 through 11 games, we know that he did have some success when Favre was actually playing like an NFL quarterback). Once Favre went downhill, the team went downhill. I just never thought it had that much to do with Mangini and everything to do with Favre and his injury/terrible decision making. (Also, it's interesting to note that in 2 of those first 3 losses through the first 11 games of the season, Favre played terribly - @oakland and @ San diego)

I'll just add that the only reason I think Rex has done a better job this season than Mangini did last season is that he's gotten the team to play better down the stretch than they did last year under Mangini. (i.e. the jets have won 4 of their last 5 games) That and of course our D is much better this year than it was last year.
