We need not remind everyone we need to be respected every time the media asks us a question. Next thing you know the Jets players will be signaling Crypt and Blood signs on the sidelines after a big play.

And do we need our coach calling out the Niners, "too bad we don't play them" after they file tampering charges?

What is that?
I dont know if you realized but we haven't won with that method in 40 years. Its time to change the way the jets have done stuff, and ryan has done just that. I don't know how you cannot like this attitude. The jets need that kick ass mean son of bitch attitude. They have those type of guys.

anyone who writes an article like this is a Pats fan or a Dolphins fan(most likely Fins).

If in one year from now the Jets are the so called "most hated team" then thats great. That must mean we had a great season and teams hate our guts for talking and then beating them up. I've never heard of a bad team being hated. I've also never heard of a bad team talking trash. If the Jets were 2-6 you think Rex Ryan would act this cocky? No way. But he's 2-0 after beating 2 good teams.

Bottom line...you have a defense like the Jets and you can beat ANYBODY!

an article like this two weeks into the season holds no water... this thread being 4 pages is more attention than this ass needs.

The media tells us we're losers. Then when our team wins they tell us they're going to lose. Then when our team wins again they tell us everybody hates us.

Then they say we're fat and have poor personal hygiene. They tell us to calm down when our team wins. When our team loses they laugh and tell us it's been that way for 40 years.

When we smile, they tell us we should be crying. When our team looks strong, they remind us of times our team has been a laughing stock.

They tell us to wait, wait, wait... and eventually our team will fail again.

Fuck the media.

You're joking right? That's just as stupid as Raider Joe comparing his attributes to Jets fans...

My guess is each team has its share of fat slob fans.... LOL

Seeing as this is one of the few teams in the NFL that hasn't had a rape, shooting, homicide, or any other serious felony committed by one of its players, I think its pretty easy to dismiss the suggestion that this team is "crawling through a mud pit." And as for the ridiculous portrayal of Jets fans, I think he has us confused for every team's most dumbass fans, fat drunk jerks can be found inside pretty much any stadium in America, just about any time you open one up.

Nothing any Jet player has said has been above and beyond the norm for players in the NFL as far as trash talking. Nobody who's the least bit familiar with Jets-Patriots mistook this for anything other than the standard sort of vitriol that is always, always going on between these teams, the only difference is now the national media is paying attention and doing their best to make controversy out of even the most innocuous comments. And citing to Mel Kiper tells you all you need to know about this writer's football acumen.

I'll remember the name, and be sure to not read anything else I see with his name on it. Honestly, I've seen not a single sign of people hating this team other than this joker, I'd say Ryan and this Jets team seem to be pretty universally liked. When I see one of the guys on PTI tell me I'm a fat slob and my team is a bunch of jerks, maybe I'll listen.

Well, I was in Baltimore for the weekend, and I can tell you Jets fans that the country doesn't hate you too much yet... at least not against the Pats.

Most folks at the Hooters (except the Sox fans like me down there for the weekend) were more than happy to see the Jets lay one on the Pats.. Even a few J-E-T-S chants...

He's definitely not a Pats fan either. It seems like he's just miserable about all teams, which is nearly impossible to be out here when you have 300 days of summer a year. Maybe he's bitter that LA doesn't have a pro football team besides SC (up until last week they were anyway).
Here's what he wrote about the Pats in '07:

I'd post the article but it's a writer responding to Ventre's article, and I couldn't make it clear who's saying what with a cut&paste.

As that sentence was read, it was quite obvious to me that it was no longer necessary to
take anything else seriously with this writer.

The only way you're going to wake everybody up and get this team going is to make some noise by installing a some confidence within the players, to the organization, to the fans. If we make a strong push this year and the league recognizes us for who we've become, I don't think players will be so quick to shoot off at the mouth anymore. Instead, teams will be looking to beat the Jets and they'll provide us with bulletin board material. I'm sure Rex Ryan will know what to do with that and respond.

Like Bart Scott said, we just want to get the attention of the league and for teams to respect us. If people want to hate us because we talk loud and back it up, then we're probably doing something right.
Nice comment, and I hope I can say you were right as we move farther along in the season.

I stopped reading at the description of the typical Jets fan. (I'm 55, tall and thin and I got a Don Maynard jersey in 1967...) Back in 68, they brought in Johnny Sample, who brought some of the Rex Ryan/Bart Scott attitude to their defense. Sample was hated as a dirty player. You know what? I didn't see where they gave back their Super Bowl trophy because Sample was hated. I couldn't care less what anybody thinks. I've been waiting for decades for them to play defense like this.

Nothing wrong with this.

Would you rather be the laughingstock of the NFL, or the NFL's most hated team?

If they're hating, you must be doing something right.
