My buddy told me the "Insider" version of Kiper has Alshon Jefferey projected to the 3rd. Man, that guy has really fallen after he didn't run at the combine (mistake). He ran a 4.47 at his pro day, and he's a beast.
I think he would be a decent compliment to the Jets receiver corps. Do you think he's a good value late in the 2d, early 3rd? |

I would take him in the 3rd. No sooner though.

I would take him in the second - if he fell to the third I'd advocate trading up for him. I'm generally very against trading up too. That's all assuming we didn't take a WR already.

This is all non sense. He has the chance to fall into the second round but he's a first round talent. Kiper and McShay have been really off lately.

2012 NFL Draft: Alshon Jeffery's Character Concerns; Debunking the Myth By Matt Miller(Senior NFL Draft Lead Writer) Character concerns. It's a phrase that invokes four-letter-word-like trauma in the minds of NFL draft fans, analysts and even the men making the decision on draft day. But what does it really mean? Saying a player has "character concerns" has become a blanket statement for an off-field problem. Michael Vick has character concerns. Warren Sapp had character concerns. But Alshon Jeffery? The South Carolina wide receiver has been unfairly tagged with the dreaded label—and I'm out to uncover why he's carrying the scarlet letter while the consensus top two wide receivers in the 2012 NFL draft class are not. Jeffery's crime wasn't alcohol related. He hasn't fathered multiple children with different women. He allegedly played overweight—that's it. |

Character concerns are non-existent to me. He's a hard-worker, team player, and a gamer. Great height, wingspan, hands, and incredible body position (leaping and shielding). He wins all toss-ups. A great possession receiver at the NFL level. |

If Jeffrey makes it to 47 I would make the guy handing in the card do cartwheels all the way to the podium.

Conversely, if he's at 47 and wasn't the pick I expect a Jet fan to dropkick the Jets card guy.

I don't understand this. He's likely the best player on the board if he drops to our second rounder. Weight issues can be fixed. Actual character concerns would be more legitimate.

I could see teams picking other WRs over Jeffray where he falls to us in round 2. Round 3 seems a bit nuts, but if he fell to the early 3rd, you'd have to think long and hard about trading up, especially with a bunch of compensatory picks.

I would love to get him in the 2nd. Excellent value.

If he fell to us in Round 2 and he isn't picked I may have to go to Tannenbaum and dropkick his sorry butt out of NewYork/NewJersey.

I think Alshon is a player and I'd love to see him taken in Rd 2, but I hope people don't think he's going to come in as this huge gamebreaker. I think his peak is a Keyshawn Johnson type career (funny considering Key was #1). He gets by with his physical nature and ability to put his body between the ball and the defender. He'll still have trouble getting separation at the next level, and thinking he's Calvin #2 will put unrealistic expectations on him.

I agree 100% with the first three in your ranking though. I don't think Floyd's there at 16 though and there's not a huge gap between him and Hill in my mind. The main advantage Floyd has is proven production. |
