Pour yourself a stiff one, drink it, pour another and settle in.

Don't need to watch it. We never kept up with the losses of Faneca and Woody on the O-line and then got rid of Braylon Edwards and Cotchery for two assholes in Derrick Mason and Plaxico Burress. All of a sudden Sanchez looked human again. But at least to this day we keep drafting interior defensive linemen! Its really been working out for us!

I watched it this morning, and considered making a thread for it. I thought it was really well done. It's not pretty, but it's what happened.

Oh yeah so it seems a team can succeed when you surround the QB with O line and weapons. And fails when you don’t. What a surprise.

    Oh what could have been

    A shooting star

    Bright, amazing, but short lived

MrT had the recipe before the recipe was known.

Sign vets around your rookie QB

But alas, he failed to keep it going and Mark was left alone to fail.

Sad, and no lesson was learned here. But nowadays it’s THE recipe.

Yep, that was good stuff. It's crazy how the team just made one bad decision after another to dismantle a championship-calibre squad (or at least near championship-calibre). And it's all so long ago already.

in retrospect, it started even before that. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, the Jets had consecutive bad drafts in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Besides Dustin Keller there wasn't a single player worth a damn.

Just as importantly, Rex and Tanny stripped the team of its veteran leadership, and Rex provided zero leadership.

    Well done video.

As bad as it ended....those were some fun years to be a fan of the NY Jets.

Hopefully Adam Gase's no-bullshit approach leaves room for some more...

That video really overemphasized Tebow's threat to Sanchez. Is there one amongst us who felt that was anything close to a QB controversy? What Tebow really was, was another Johnson ploy to squeeze out a few more PSL purchases. Another bone to pick: Barely a mention of the loss to the Giants (Victor Cruz) which totally spun that season around for both NY teams. Yeah, Philly crushed us, but we outplayed the Giants the next week in a juiced stadium - but lost.

Same here, the season after the second AFC championship game, I was so excited. That first game win against the cowboys, I was certain that was our year. As you point out we never invested in the O-Line! And we still haven't 10 years later.

Have 0 interest in watching that but it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that team wasn't built for anything more than a brief window...especially when it became apparent Sanchez was crap

Look at that D by 2010. Scott, Pouha, Thomas, Jason Taylor, Shaun Ellis...all over 30. Even Sanchez in his 2nd year only completed 54% of his passes (though he threw less picks) but you could already tell by then he was just not a naturally accurate thrower of the football

Plenty of QB's underperform or outright fail with both

Yeah sure but Tanny doubling down with the contract he gave Sanchez was unforgivable

As I watched key pieces from that offense leave and not be replaced with as good or better players, it became crystal clear that no one on that team had any idea what an offense was supposed to look like, or what types of players would complement Sanchez. That was one of the best defenses I've ever seen, including the Sack Exchange, the Steel Curtain, and the Bears '86 team - not saying it was better, but it was close to them - and that should've proved to everyone that you can't win with just a great defense, especially in the modern NFL. And yet, the Jets continued down that road, and Darnold notwithstanding, are still on it. Hopefully Gase can yank that bus off that road.
