Our owners will scare away any quality people because they don't know what they are doing. We will not land Douglas and he will receive a promotion and a raise from the Eagles. Next off season some other team will sign and he will be executive the year and win a super bowl within 3 years. No other top Gm candidates will take the job and we will settle for an unknown with many question marks.
...that's the plan (always is) to get the perfect GM who pics perfect players and has a perfect working relationship with the HC and owners. But look at our last 3 GMs....Tannenbaum, Idzik, MacCagnan. Do any of think Gase/JJ have even a tiny shot at hiring the 'perfect' GM? Heck, if we have faith that Gase can hire the 2nd coming of Jesus, then just let Gase run the whole thing! Clock's ticking!
Better said than done.......this team as constructed simply isn't ready to appear in an AFCCG this year - the OL is below average and even if Gase found players between now and the beginning of the season they need time to gel. EDGE is unproven and CB is shaky. I think the Jets need another year/off season before being a force to reckon with. Although I think they will be entertaining this year and could compete for a WC berth......
This is also my answer. Gase won't be GM by training camp and if his only move with trading Lee who most believe was gone anyways then so be it.
Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins, Kirk Cousins. Having Cousins say no was like flipping your car and walking away without a scratch.
I would settle for an average GM who picks solid football players who actually make the team and contribute rather than the dumpster fire of players we have had to settle for never mind the draft picks we have thrown away on players who are not on our roster or even in the NFL
It was a move made out of NECESSITY but the timing was bad. No one in their right mind can possibly debate that Mac was legitimately terrible at his job. He sucked pure and simple. So yeah, I wish they'd shit canned him when they did toilet, but the fact still remains change was very much needed. If not for the free agents Mac added this team would have the overall talent level of a college team. What that says is Mac was terrible at drafting and if you're terrible at drafting you have no business even getting close to an NFL teams front office.
