You keep saying this with certitude but there was never any evidence presented of him being "blackballed" by the NFL.

But now he has more money to give to charity and for that I commend him.

At least he's doing something useful rather than some empty symbol.

This is a message board. That's my opinion. I don't even know with certitude that the earth was actually round until I saw pictures of it from space.

    That’s fair.

    Not the space part.

The first pictures of the earth I saw from space where the same year we won the SB. 1968 Apollo 8. 14 years old. Before that I had to believe Columbus figured it out from looking at ships at sea returning to port and seeing the top of their mast first. That sounded like complete BS to me.(BS that he was the first to figure that out) I suspect the Mayans, Inca's, Greeks and Roman's figured it out a long time ago.

Aaaaahh Life Magazine and Frank Borman.

My older brother made a scrapbook with all of those pictures starting with Mercury and Gemini, the first spacewalk by Ed White was so cool.

Interestingly, the article you cite calls these groups organizations, not charities. The word "charity" does not appear in the article. Maybe a poor choice of words, but maybe an important distinction. Does anyone know what these groups are and what they do?

What has always bothered me is that Kaepernick didn't bother to vote in the 2016 election. That was a pretty significant election, don't you think? His reason for not voting was bizarre. He said that by voting, he would be endorsing "the system" (whatever the hell that is) and he refused to endorse "the system." That sort of sounds like my teen-age sons when they went through their rebel-without-a-clue stage.Thankfully, they quickly grew out of it. I have never seen Kaepernick ever say anything that shows with any degree of specificity what he is fighting for or against. I would have more respect for him and would be less skeptical of his authenticity if he had done so.

To be fair, many agree with him about not voting, 2016 had the lowest voter turnout in 20 years. 45% of the country didn't vote. I don't agree with not voting, but if you think the system is a sham, it makes sense. I'd wager that he voted in 2018.

Sam, I have to respectfully disagree with you. The 2016 turnout was 55.5%. That's higher than 2012, 2000, 1996, 1992, 1988, 1984, 1980 etc. The larger point is that for a person of Kaepernick's political views, one of the candidates in 2016 was seen as the ultimate evil, so you would expect him to have voted, even if he had to hold his nose to do so. A lot of people held their noses in the voting booth in 2016.

I really don't know what your agenda is with these constant attacks on Kaepernick's character? It seems somewhat contrived. I'm out of here on this topic. It smells like you have an agenda to smear him for some reason?

FYI a huge percentage of people don't vote. It was a completely irrelevant election in terms of CA. Trump got less than 40% of the CA vote and had zero chance of getting any electors in the State. The imbalance of our representation in Washington has turned off a lot of voters.

Well, as you yourself said earlier, "This is a message board. That's my opinion." But I agree that this thread has reached its expiration date.

    Interesting. Fair points.

    https://www.cnn.com/2016/11/11/politics/popular-vote-turnout-2016/index.html

That's where I got my info from, so I don't know. According to this, in 2012 it was 60%, in 2008 it was 65% and in 2004 it was 62% and in 2000 it was 56%. I notice the wiki has different numbers, so I'm curious which one is more accurate.

Either way, it still doesn't take away from the fact that 45% of people didn't vote just like Kaepernick. That means more people abstained than voted for a particular candidate (roughly 26% for each). In 2016 both candidates were very polarizing, so it was a lesser of 2 evils election in reality. It's not like Hillary was all teddy bears and rainbows.

I do think he voted in 2018 because Trump was vehemently opposed to his protests and was outspoken about it. I bet Trump's first 2 years sparked him to vote in the midterms like many others and in all reality, the 2020 election will have huge turnout in comparison.
