Got this one in the inbox this morning from some bozo in Taiwan:

"You may not know me and you are probably wondering why you are getting this e mail, right?

I’m a hacker who cracked your email and devices a few months ago.

Do not try to contact me or find me, it is impossible, since I sent you an email from YOUR hacked account.

I setup a malware on the adult vids (porno) web-site and guess what, you visited this site to have fun (you know what I mean).

While you were watching videos, your internet browser started out functioning as a RDP (Remote Control) having a keylogger which gave me accessibility to your screen and web cam.

After that, my software program obtained all information.

You entered a passwords on the websites you visited, and I intercepted it.

Of course you can will change it, or already changed it.

But it doesn’t matter, my malware updated it every time.

    What did I do?

I backuped device. All files and contacts.

I created a double-screen video. 1st part shows the video you were watching (you’ve got a good taste haha . . .), and 2nd part shows the recording of your web cam.

    exactly what should you do?

Well, in my opinion, $1000 (USD) is a fair price for our little secret. You’ll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search “how to buy bitcoin” in Google).

    My Bitcoin wallet Address:

    19p62VSjmRLPJS34ASWOEixUDYzoGQxQHW

(It is cAsE sensitive, so copy and paste it)

    Important:

You have 48 hour in order to make the payment. (I’ve a unique pixel in this e mail, and at this moment I know that you have read through this email message).

To track the reading of a message and the actions in it, I use the facebook pixel.

Thanks to them. (Everything that is used for the authorities can help us.) If I do not get the BitCoins, I will certainly send out your video recording to all of your contacts including relatives, coworkers, and so on."

"You may not know not know me . . . DELETE. Also, "It is cAsE sensitive", hahahaha. I wonder if Jim Nantz caved over jerking off on a poster of Tom Brady . . . ?

EDIT: I got a similar one a couple of years ago that I knew was complete bullshit but I wasn't amused while my life was being raped and destroyed by a real life serious hack at the same time. It said something like I have dirt on you and I have hack everything about you. You pictures and videos on porn sites. Pay me now or I expose you and ruin you. Getting hacked is no joke. Your life and general sense of safety will never be the same. Alexa, Echo Dot, Smart TVs, get the fukking fukk out of here. Unless it has happened to you, there is no way in hell that anyone could ever possibly understand the number it does on you.

Part of the reason that I always refused to belong to social media of any kind was the potential spying aspect of it. I wasn't wrong, and unfortunately people are addicted to it, they can't stop looking at themselves and horrid snakes like Mark Zuckerberg will never be sentenced to life in prison.

Its not exactly the same thing, cause I guess it's not a scam but in Pennsylvania they passed a law allowing the consumers to chose their suppliers of their electricity. It sounds nice in theory but it fucking sucks ass. It's driving me crazy. These suppliers are like cockroaches now that you have to beat off with a stick. Not even exaggerating- we have a listed landline, unfortunately, 5 or 6 calls a day from different suppliers.

Its much worse though when they go door to door. They don't explain to people who they are, they try to hide themselves as your utility company and they just ask to see your utility bill. I was like "fuck you, you aren't seeing my bill".. but my elderly grandfather would get so swindled and confused by them

Yeah that's pretty much anywhere, they are called ESCO's. Utilities are producing less and less of the power they just supply the transmission / delivery and handle billing - the power supply comes from a 3rd party which you can select. Just be careful who you pick because your rates could go up. The solar and wind ESCOS are usually pretty good, around here at least you can get lower rates with solar

Going back to spying HIPAA is a hilarious joke. "Privacy", are people high? THERE IS NO PRIVACY. All I had to do was push one button and I could see everything about you whether you liked it or not. Bush started Meaningful Use and Obama picked up the torch. If anyone wants to know the ins and outs of Meaningful Use, ask me. It's why I eventually resigned from my lucrative day job where I worked for 11 years. It had nothing to do with my stellar former Boss Lady but everything to do with my personal ethics. Oh, and then there was the guy who left his laptop in his car (he worked for BCBS) and 100,000 people got compromised. HIPAA, don't get me started. Privacy, hahahahaha. There were tons of good doctors and practitioners who said fuck this and just stopped practicng. I'm not getting fined 10K if I don't do this (arms twisted behind their backs) but get an 18K carrot if I do.

So yeah, ask me and be horrified. Try to get your own records? You get put through a grinder. Me looking at every drug you ever took including what you omitted because you didn't think it was anyone's business when consulting a podiatric surgeon, good luck with that. You're in the data base, baby.

Choosing your own supplier is also available to in NY, BUT BUYER BEWARE. I got a phone call about a year ago from Kiwi Energy posing as Central Hudson (see previous page) saying they could lower my electric costs by 30% as a third party supplier for Central Hudson. I thought you SAID you were Central Hudson. I knew I wasn't doing it, but OK, I'll half-listen to your sales pitch after I weaseled the energy supplier's company name out of the rep. I didn't pick up when they called, I called them back for laughs when they left a voicemail from what sounded like a live person on the other end.

As she's talking, I put Kiwi Energy into my search bar. No, no, no, a thousand times no. Turns out they are 'legally' robbing people blind. Sure, your rates go down the first year, but then they quadruple them after the introductory period is over, customer service is practically non-existent, they penalize you if you leave, and they're almost impossible to get rid of. Holy Shit, you should read some of the reviews. "OK, thanks, I've got a pie in the oven. Gotta go." Guess what? I didn't have a pie in the oven. *CLICK*.

Yep, and they do go door to door just like that cult The Jehovah's Witnesses. Just another reason to not open the door. That last sentence about your grandpa really pisses me off, which is essentially the reason for the thread. Scumbags.

Electricity savings tip and this ain't no bullshit. Unplug everything unnecessary that has a light on it when you're 1) not going to be home 2) going to bed. Hear me out. I heard through the grapevine that cable boxes are absolute energy vampires. I looked into it and guess what? It's 100% legitimately true. So OK, I'm game, I'll try it. I started unplugging the microwave, the coffee maker, and my cable boxes and TVs when 1) I wasn't going to be home 2) going to bed and 3) I knew I wasn't going to be watching TV.

The results were shocking. ONE CABLE BOX CONSUMES AS MUCH ELECTRICITY AS A REFRIGERATOR. The problem is that most people are 1) too lazy and 2) too impatient for the boxes to boot up every time because they were unplugged. Get over your laziness and impatience. I pay my electric bill on a budget plan. I started saving roughly $20 a month off of my bill just by doing that. I voluntarily reduced my budget payment to $100 a month and still came out $132 ahead when the new budget year was set to kick in. I should come out even further ahead this year because I only started doing this about 9 months ago. Try it. You'll like it.

So anyway, that's what immediately tipped me off that it wasn't 'Central Hudson' even though the number said it was. You're up the street ready to come to the pole and my electricity will be shut off in 45 minutes. Fukk you, Miguel, you little bitch. I had a credit!

EDIT: I just wanted to add the every once in a while when you plug your cable box back in you'll get a message across the screen telling you to call to activate your service. This happens because occasionally there are updates to the programming guide or other updates, and the box didn't receive it because it was unplugged. All they have to do is send a signal and you're good to go.

before we bought our house a little over year ago my wife and I lived in a 2nd floor apartment in an older two story home that was converted into 2 apartments. We lived there for almost 2 years. Perhaps this is my own damn fault, idk.

The electric bill was high, especially in the summer time. But I was new in this particular city. my wife and I didn't really know anyone and I knew it was an older home. I work from home so I used air conditioning quite a bit. I just can't focus on my work when its too hot. I thought damn- that's pretty fuckin high, must be that's what people have to pay around here.....??

    ---

We lived above some true scumbags. The type that mooch off the system, very little working going on, some domestic violence, very little guidance to their kids. That type of people. At one point they even installed a fuckin pool somehow in the back yard and ran an extension cord all the way out back so the filter could run, without asking me (it was a shared yard) OR the fuckin landlord. I was thinkin holy hell, if my electric bill is high, there's must be crazy, how the fuck can they even afford that?
    ---

So thank God we finally were able to buy our own place and move out. I transfer the utilities over to my new place and the rep was like - "you lived in the second floor, just the second floor?" I was like "yeah" and then.... I hear... "oh.....oh no" - you know where this is going. I was paying for the fuckers below us!!! 2 years and these scumbags don't get a single electric bill. "hey, lets install a pool. Leave the lights on 24/7, who cares". unbelievable. I was so angry, I saw red!!!

I will give the utility company some credit though, they made it right. Somehow they calculated it and we had a huge credit applied to our account. I mean huge. Idk if they went after the landlord or the downstairs shitbags for the rest of the money. I dont care. If I ever see that dickhead that lived downstairs again, I'm gonna punch him right in the face

I'VE HEARD STORIES LIKE THAT BEFORE. One in particular that I recall was someone who was living in a unit with four apartments. Scumbucket landlord knew that the electric usage for all four units was being carried by the one apartment because of the shitty way it was wired and repeatedly claimed there was nothing wrong when they kept complaining that something wasn't right. Of course the other three units never complained (don't ask me how people live with themselves).

Said scumbucket landlord denied there was an issue because 1) he didn't want to pay an electrician to do it right 2) he didn't want to lose the other three tenants by suddenly having them get billed and 3) in no way wanted to be taken to small claims court and pay restitution. He told them if they didn't like their bill, they should move. Well, they called their utility company, and yep, they were carrying all four units and reported the landlord for fraud. It gets better.

They had a friend who was a licensed electrician, he lock-picked the basement, took a shitload of pictures, and they did indeed take the landlord to small claims court. The fucker tried to argue in court that it was breaking and entering. Well, technically it was, but the electrician said it's his word against mine the padlock was open. The judge was so pissed off not only about the wiring, but there was also a bunch of other safety violations. The claimants got 12 grand if I recall and then yeah, they moved. Haha, fuck that guy.

I'm really sorry that happened to you and I'm glad that it went in your favor. Anyone remember the Coleman Propane scandal in Orange/Sullivan/Ulster Counties? They were illegally price fixing and jacking up their prices so high that customers were unable to afford heat in the dead of Winter and their service was being terminated. Old people who lived alone with no heat, veterans on a fixed income, you name it, they were doing it. What major pieces of shit. They got busted, alright.

You can't cut off someone's heat especially during hardship that THEY caused. I have an enamel on steel propane direct vent woodstove in my Studio (it has saved our asses more than once in the Winter losing power). I was stuck with Coleman Propane because I didn't have much of a choice at the time. They charged me for delivering the tank. They charged me for hooking it up. They charged me a yearly $50 rental fee for the tank. They charged me a yearly $50 rental fee for my MILs propane cooking stove tank EVEN THOUGH IT'S ON THE SAME PROPERTY. "Well, it's a separate building, so . . ." "Are you kidding me?!" They kept dicking me on propane costs. They would "fill up" my Studio tank in the Summer when the pilot light wasn't on for months. CROOKS. I won't get into my Bounced Check Story in detail, but I will say that I have never bounced a check in my life. They kept hitting me up for a $25 bounced check fee that I "owed" them even though they cashed my check and I proved it. So, just putting on some ground pepper for flavor.

We have oil heat, and luckily our oil co. started delivering propane some years ago. Bye, Coleman. Those shifty bastards tried to stick me for a $100 dollar "removal fee" of their shitty propane tanks when I switched over while my oil company was dropping them off to them for FREE. Coleman would also charge some bullshit fee if you used under x amount gallons of propane in a given year. Fuck off hard COLEMAN PROPANE.

The latest in my spam box:

    "Hello!

As you may have noticed, I sent you an email from your account.
This means that I have full access to your account.

I've been watching you for a few months now.
The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.
Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.
This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence.

Why your antivirus did not detect malware?
Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched.
With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks.
I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this,
transfer the amount of $626 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 1DASN5fH1E1PCoxU9qMEF7QDjnXcA2b3Km

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again.
I give you 48 hours to pay.
I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address.
I do not make any mistakes.

If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.

    Best regards! "

OK, so back to unplugging cable boxes (cables boxes are the big biggie), DVD players, TVs, small appliances, home theaters, making sure all lights are off. . . Trust me when I tell you, you won't believe your electricity savings. I receive a statement from Central Hudson quarterly showing my energy usage and just got my latest. It's a graph thingy, but also has a section where it compares your usage to similar houses in your area.

    Average usage: 1666kw
    Efficient usage: 1100kw
    Elite (me): 849kw

As I said, I pay $100 on a budget plan, but my average cost per month over the last three months was $28.29! LMAO. I'll see how big of a credit I have when the new budget comes up again next year because I may be lowering my budget to $60 or even lower. So yeah, that cable box thing, it's a real thing.

I'm also doing a now concentrated experiment with my oil company. I pay $150 a month on a budget plan and currently have a $1,200 credit amassed over the last year. Yes, yes, I know they're somehow living off the interest, but I haven't directly paid out of my pocket for a tank fill up in years. It comes out of the credit. I also use the credit for yearly maintenance on my boiler. We keep the house just warm enough to keep the pipes from freezing, so if you can stand it, throw a sweater on and shut up (we keep it the thermostats between 60 - 62). You get used to it. When I bring my brat dog, Henry, across the street to play with my neighbor's dog, sometimes we hang in my neighbor's kitchen when we get really cold. I'm so used to a cold house that I only last about 5 minutes before I start suffocating and have to go back outside.

Oh, and you should see my water bill!

Man, what an energy hog. I should come in somewhere around 290kWh this month. Summer I am usually 650-750 kWh. Of course when I remodeled this house every light was changed over to led, AC and water heater were already high efficiency, roof is 3/4 tongue and groove under the shingles instead of plywood and extra insulation blown in the attic. All appliances are new which helps a lot also and I use my small convection oven a lot for cooking instead of the big oven.

Of course our electric cost must be much higher down here since i am paying about $50 a month for 290kWh, only $15 of so for the actual electric but then all the added fees bring it up. 428kWh last month and my combined electric and water bill was $79.66. In the summer the highest was $136 for electric and water combined but that was while doing the rehab so the door was open and closed a lot with the AC set at 78.

I'm to impatient to deal with rebooting the cable box each time I use it though.

Yeah, it's wkh or kwh or some shit like that, I know I didn't post it correctly, but NY, NJ, CT get reamed. Electricity is so expensive around here, which is why so many people go solar in NY, which is also a borderline scam if you ask me. About 30% of my neighborhood did it. Not me.

You rent the panels (which is essentially a mortgage), and by the time the panels are paid off, they're obsolete. It also takes a good year or two before your costs catch up and your monthly bill goes down significantly, but you're also getting reamed in the small print. The only way for solar to make sense in NY is if you outright BUY the panels directly, which is roughly 25K, have your OWN solar batteries on your property (tons of money), and then see how fast it starts to pay itself off. That's the way to go, but it's so cost prohibitive that no-one does it. Anyone who rents solar panels is still relying on conventional electricity. It's bullshit in my mind unless you have the money to say fck it and gear it up yourself. There's no law against that . . . YET.

    WARNING!!! TWO NEW SCAMS CONFIRMED!!!

    Scam #1:
I received a text on my phone yesterday from 'Wayfair'. It looked innocent enough, but I was immediately suspicious because I have never ordered anything from Wayfair. It said something to the tune of 'Wayfair great deals! Hit the the link below or reply STOP if don't wish to receive further notifications.' DELETE.

Today I get another text from 'Wayfair'. 'Wayfair check on the status of your delivery' with a link. DELETE.

So anyway, surpise! If you reply STOP, phone invaded. If you 'check on the status of your order', phone invaded. DELETE, DELETE, DELETE.So, even if you did order something from Wayfair, call them directly to check on your order and report the texts/scam.

    Scam #2:
I received a total of 8 phone calls on my landline today from 'APPLE INC': (305) 421-0400. TOTAL SCAM. DO NOT PICK UP THE PHONE! Scam from India saying your cloud account has been hacked as well as all of your Apple devices. We need your credit card information to go in remotely and fix this. OK. I don't own any Apple products, but it would so easy for an innocent person i.e. Grandpa or Grandma to fall for this. There have also been reports of this being one of those if you say 'yes' scams.

    Inform susceptible relatives to beware.
