Not quite, there are testimonials that mean something. The Packers and Cardinals interviewed Gase and chose LaFleur and Kingsbury over him. By no means does that mean Gase is bad or even that the others are better (the Pack and Cards have different needs than we do, plus they could be wrong), but that sort of thing is what I mean by skin in the game.

Well to be fair there was a point several years back where the franchise practically ignored Joe cause he was critical of the team, think it was late in Rex's tenure. But yes most of the time Namath (post-career) is to the Jets what Ken Daneyko is to the Devils, the franchise ambassador.

It's quite possible LaFleur or Kingsbury could be the next best thing.
But as risky as the Gase hire was, I think those hires were even way riskier.

Joe Namath is that drunk uncle who doesn't shut up about that time he took the team to states.

    Zero stock put in this

All the former players, analysts, play by play men, and whatever, will 9 times out of 10 compliment the guy. Any guy.

    It’s a big fraternity

No one wants to be “that guy” who dissed a member of the frat.

I never ever heard a bad word about Bowles from the fraternity. Means zero to me.

I have a cautious optimism about everything. Just like last year with Darnold. Time to put everything together and start winning this year.

Namath has been very critical in the past. He's a straight shooter.
