    While I don’t want Rhule, this shows how the Jets are screwing up this process.

    Instead of allowing the HC to bring his own staff they are trying to keep certain guys on board. This is just not how things are done.

    Would it surprise us if they wanted Bates to stay?

    Manish wanted Rhule so of course he's going to spin it to make the Jets look bad. The reality could have easily been that Rhule was going to put together a staff of nobodies, and that turned the Jets off.

    No complete misinterpretation.

    It sounds like they want stronger coordinators (than Bates) and Rhule couldn’t produce that.

    This. Nobody else is spinning this garbage out except Mehta. I don't believe it at all.

    The only thing is they MAY have told him they wanted to retain Boyer because he did a great job. And I doubt that even happened

    “I’m not a fan of this team anymore if they hire X coach” is dumb. Nobody knows how any of it will play out regardless of who the coach will be.
