I don't know what the deal was with Bridgewater and Minnesota...but yeah. Fuck Cousins. Washington was right in tagging him.
Hopefully, Macc hires McCarthy who then hires DeFilippo who in turn gets another year under his belt as an OC.
Who actually fired him? I'm assuming Mark Davis, at least directly. All I heard was a blurb on NFL Live that it's up in the air if Gruden will have any say in hiring the new GM. Take Maccagnan, lol. EDIT: Ooops, I meant to put this in the Reggie McKenzie thread. Sorry, it's that hole in the head thing. And I really did have a hole in my head.
Spot on! BTW: How are you doing with that storm? Hope all is well. As to your point, I really think they Jets need to sign an experienced HC. We've had what seems like an endless stream of assistants who all had to learn on the job, and none of whom really turned out to be the answer. Being a HC is far more complex than any coordinator's job, and I'm too old and tired to wait for a guy to complete his OJT.
I'd rather keep Bowles or hire Rex than bring in Defilipo. That guy was a disaster. Cousins is part of it, but they look worse than the Jets despite coming off an AFC title game last year and upgrading QB. That's an epic fail. Everyone was hooting and hollering about how great the Vikings oline was and how great the Vikings FO was for rebuilding it in a single season. What happened to them? Injuries?
I'm still willing to consider John DeFilippo. He worked well with Carson Wentz. Maybe it was more Frank Reich as some have said, but he should at least be interviewed. Kirk Cousins is a veteran with a completely different skill-set than Sam Darnold. Maybe DeFilippo would work better with Sam than he did Cousins. Every situation is different. He might just not have worked well with Zimmer. Football is complicated. This could definitely hurt his chances of getting a Head Coaching job. Heck, he might not even be a OC next year. Might have to go back to being a QB Coach again.
McCarthy, yes. DeFilippo, no. I don't want him anywhere near the Jets as a HC, and probably not even as an OC. He may be ok as a QB Coach, but I doubt that he ever helped Sanchez, and I see no compelling reason to bring him back, unless no one else will come here.
Thanks! I'm fine. We didn't lose power. That's the most important thing. We got 14-15 inches. I shoveled the walk and driveway yesterday and cleaned off our cars. Gonna go out shortly and clean off the back deck and steps. From what I hear the roads are all pretty clear.
I'd be willing for the Jets to hire him as QB Coach, but I'm not so sure about OC. I definitely don't want him as HC.
I'm surprised he survived the flight home to get fired. Zim looked like he was going to rip his head off before they got the the locker room.
We don’t need DeFilippo around this franchise in any regard. McCarthy Toub Jon Harbaugh Longshot - Urban Meyer if he wants to come on board in an advisory capacity and the take over the reigns after a year away from the spotlight. The guy is too young and too damn good to be away from the game for that long. Make it happen Jets brass.
This ain’t college. As long as he wins I frankly don’t give two shits about his off field transgressions short of hurting or killing someone. That said he’s not coming anyway but I can dream. He’s a top flight football mind.
If John Harbaugh is available you beg him to come here. You give up a 1st round pick to get him if you have to. He's the best NFL Head Coach who may be available.
Yeah, the Vikings could have saved the Jets from themselves twice in one year. Signing Cousins, and now exposing DeFilippo as not as good as advertised before the season began.
There you go with that 20/20 hindsight shit again. Next you'll start pining for Baker Mayfield. Let it go dude. Let it go.
