So with this news if true I’m guessing the next HC will be one of these men. Difillipo Carmichael Toub Taylor
Keeping MacCagnan insures that the jets remain in the basement of the AFC East for many years to come, simple as that. MacCagnan has had 4 years, and the jets roster and record will be (at this season's end) worse or at best the same than when he took over (in a word, regression). If the Johnson brothers can't see that (and apparently they can't (or won't acknowledge it)), then jets fans have little hope for this laughing stock of a franchise.
I am confident I won't live long enough to see the next Jet Super Bowl. Good thing I saw the last one...
Whatever happens, for heaven's sake don't hire a "consulting firm" to "suggest" a candidate. That is such an awful trend. Save the money you would've used to spend on consultants to actually pay enough for someone who knows what he's doing. We never heard the price tag for Wolf and Casserly last go 'round. But we ended up with 2 of the lowest paid coach/GM candidates in the whole league... and it shows!!
I have never been more unsure about a Coach or GM than I am with Maccagnan. Usually it is such a simple "HE MUST GO!" or "Of course he should stay." but it is more complicated with Mac. He has signed some good players, he drafted the future Franchise QB in Sam Darnold by trading up to get him, he literally has stripped down and began to rebuild the roster, but he also has made some glaring mistakes along the way. Could a new GM do a better job? Probably. Has Mac done more bad than good to warrant being fired? I don't know. I don't think so.
His draft picks after round 1 are a big concern for me. For every Herndon, there's Stewart and Hansen.
Mac deserves no credit for Darnold because Darnold has done nothing to justify the selection. And if Mac remains GM, doesn't improve his drafting, and hires Bowles 2.0 because that's who will work with him, odds are Darnold is a bust.
How can you post this: Only 33 percent of Maccagnan’s second-rounders are on an NFL roster. The league average for second-rounders from 2015-18: 92 percent. Only 50 percent of his third-rounders are on any active roster. The league average: 84 percent. Only 50 percent of his fourth-rounders are on any active roster. The league average: 82 percent. Only 50 percent of his fifth-rounders are on any active roster. The league average: 75 percent. And then go on to argue that this is the right person to identify talent going forward?
It would have been interesting to know who Macc would have taken if, he didn't take Bowles and his coaches like Morton advice. Hackenberg that was all on Macc for sure.
If this was any other team than the Jets I would be surprised but I'm not. Leave it to this organization to screw things up. Ugh! lets all hope and pray that he can do a better job hiring a coach than drafting players. I wish they would just fire Mac but seems unlikely. Totally frustrated with this team. Blah! Blah! like it matters.
Hope you are dead wrong with the last paragraph. It is probably the very best option for us. Then again, the Jets never, ever get the best option. The BB curse continues.
