Woody and Chris to the Fans: "STFU and get back to rooting ..we say when the Coaches come and go beer bellies!!!" "And another thing ingrates we all know firing Bowles is just a Band Aid on cancer..get it dopey fans???" Band Aid"..??? .yessir just little J &J humor to lighten things up between weekend sh!tshows"
Bates? Why? A few people here have suggested keeping Bates but never get around to explaining what they've seen him accomplish that suggests he should stay. If anything, I believe Bates should be the first one gone if Bowles is staying until week 17. His job is Darnold - nothing else and Darnold has gotten worse as the season progresses. What am I missing?
This is fine. Sweep it all out together at the end. There’s no need to fire Bowles now to get a jump on the coaching search. Half of that stuff is done in back channels anyway. It just sucks that we are right back where we started from 4 years ago.
First off I'm not really defending Bates but I totally disagree he should be the first to go. Bowles and Rodgers have been putrid for three freaking years. Enough is enough. Secondly, Sam has not digressed. He has now impressed me more and more. As a rookie able to stay alive behind this sorry excuse of an offense. How did MacCown do? Bates can go but not before the pathetic HC and his side kick get the hell out of NY. Morton knew and was vocal about Bowles incompetence and that is the main reason he got fired. Bates is on his first season, the rest of these bozos have been doing the same garbage way too long.
So we have to endure that rest of another lost season wondering if the Johnson Boys will actually fire Bowles? Great. I really don't know why I continue to invest any time or emotion in this sorry, losing franchise.
I look at it as a belated Xmas present------should he be shitcanned now ? Of Course but we all just have to wait a lil longer
McCown? Who cares? He is not a factor in any discussion, he's simply a place keeper - somebody has to play quarterback. Bates, as both the QB coach and the OC, is in the closest position to harm Darnold, that's why he has risen to the top of my hit list. You think Darnold has not regressed, I see his QB rating for his last game about 75 with four INTs and a fumble. I'm not sure what you're looking at. The guy is a rookie on a lousy team; I don't expect much but he's not getting any better under this tutelage. If I was driving the bus there would be three guys standing on the corner but if Chris Johnson is determined to keep Bowles around, I'm more determined to kick Bates to the curb for the damage he's doing to Darnold.
It’s the right play. He’s a dead man walking and that’s cover enough for a very young team from the shitstorm the rest of the season is going to be. An interim guy adds nothing meaningful now and could cause some damage long term.
You know it's Jet football when you're excited about uniform unveils, free agency, NFL draft, and a coaching search. Never excited about the actual fucking season. And to think, I chose this for myself.
remember when rex went into the titans stadium and won a meaningless game? it only cost s the 2nd pick in he draft that year ( marcus mariotta) plus 4 draft picks it took to get sam darnold. never, ever underestimate the damage a jets coach who is interested in making himself look better can do. ( those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it)
