He had guys open, on his first int he had Crowell open. He has made bad reads, which I get, he's a rookie. It's not all on the receivers.

I never said it was all on the receivers. If you read my post in this thread and in other threads, I have said that Darnold needs to make better decisions and has to be smarter with the football, but a HUGE part of the problem is play calling and separation, which go hand in hand with eachother.

I really don't understand why you're taking this so personal. I'm not attacking you or saying your point is stupid. I'm simply saying he has made bad reads

Who is taking it personal? Lol

I guess I thought the Jets "forum" was a discussion board about the Jets. Maybe I was mistaken?

You responded to my post about the receivers not being open stating that they are open and Sam is missing them. I responded to that comment claiming I have watched the film and don't see them as open as you claim. I also made it a point to reiterate that I have never solely blamed the receivers and have blamed Darnold on numerous occasions.

Still a little lost as to where you feel this got personal? Lol

    Are these quotes “verbatim”?

I mentioned this a week or 2 ago.

It’s ridiculous. I end up watching a bunch of games or parts of games and every other QB constantly has at least 1 receiver/RB running wide open.

Hell, every game our opponents have guys wide open.

    Not us. Almost never.

And we all have seen what Darnold can do when receivers get open, the Lions game has proven that. Same with Denver and Indy games.

It’s almost like you might design plays that are likely to get your guys open.

We all knew the OL would suck this year. Some posters tried (and failed) to convince us that we had a trio of talented receivers. We all knew our backs were average at best. We all knew a rookie QB would be starting and struggling.

The only real surprise, if it really is one, is how badly mismanaged the offense has been. Bad play calling, Long, no WR depth, the poor choice of letting Pryor go, neglecting the OL, etc.

Mac and Bowles have failed the offense in almost every conceivable way sans the god damn kicker.

Great job on the kicker, guys.

Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson are both very talented receivers. Kearse has been horrible.

The lack of separation falls at the feet of Bates, IMO. Enunwa has proven how powerful and explosive he can be. Anderson can burn every defensive back in the league. Why we aren't calling plays to exploit those strengths, is beyond me

Not enough time to let the play develop?

No threat of a ground game to keep the defense honest?

Botched snaps throwing off timing and limiting the reads Darnold can make?

The receivers aren’t as good as we think?

The only one I’d be interested in keeping is Enunwa, unless Robby signs on the cheap. Rocket Ismial he is not. He also can’t stay healthy.

The only place Enunwa and Anderson are very talented is this forum.

Darnold locking into one receiver doesn't help matters either.

Agree. He’s definitely doing it. I don’t blame him when he doesn’t have enough time to scan the field. He’s doing when he does have the time as well. He probably doesn’t know who to trust at this point. Again, no excuses, he’s not playing well but there’s a lot of outside factors contributing.

Well it's a habit - a bad one - he's developing as a result of the poor pass pro, and also that only one receiver seems to get open consistently. If they don't do something to change this, he's going to regress and then have to relearn all over again.

The good news is that he's smart and does learn quickly, and if these things are pointed out to him he will work to overcome them, but it's a team game and it'll take more than just him to fix it.

I think what HOTJ means is that neither is a number 1 WR on most other teams. We(or at least many here) have a tendency to think they're better than they are.

    Number 1? Definitely not.

    A very talented receiver? Yes.

PFF is far from perfect, but I'm going to use them here because they aren't biased at least. They have Enunwa as the #35 receiver in football and Anderson as the #98 receiver. That means Enunwa is a very good #2 receiver, but he's our #1. Whereas Anderson is a very good #4 receiver, but he's our #2/3. They actually have Kearse as the #62 receiver, so he's a very bad #2. In summary, our #1 (Enunwa) is a very good #2, our #2 (say Kearse) is a very bad #2, and our #3 (Anderson) is a very good #4. That doesn't meet my definition of very talented.
