This makes very little sense. Sure, you want the spot, but Pryor is also better than anyone you’re replacing him with two weeks from now. Especially with Enunwa out.
I guess the only thing I can think of is that we need the roster spot? Very strange. I’m happy Burnett is gonna get a shot to play with Darnold but that ain’t the answer at all.
I understand the move to open up the roster spot, but I highly doubt the Jets get him back. There are gonna be many teams waiting to pick him up
Deontay Burnett on the practice squad getting promoted? Kearse, Anderson, Peake, and Roberts is it right now. I don't see Roberts getting used even sparingly, so either they feel confident in Peake or maybe Burnett. Maybe Tre McBride gets a call.
Hamstring and groin injuries are rough ones to come back from. Usually those injuries never heal completely considering players are trying to play every week. A slight tear could never fully heal, and he could be having issues with it week after week. With such a young group of guys, it's a good idea to cut ties and use that open spot for another potential long term answer. Sucks but I understand the move
This doesn't make any sense to me. Why release a decent WR if he's only going to be out for two weeks? Could there be some other explanation for this, some issue..? You are not going to get him back when he's healthy again, someone will most definitely claim him. Other thing that came to mind, could there be any credence to the rumors about trading for WR, like Amari Cooper, and we needed the roster spot for him.
He’s been the best red zone target so far for a team that struggles in the red zone. Doesn’t make much sense to me to remove him from the equation when you are trying to get a rookie quarterback acclimated to the pros. The only way this makes sense is if there’s a trade in the works and I highly doubt that’s the case.
He put up okay numbers but it's not like this will really hurt our offense. Still below Kearse/Enunwa/Anderson when healthy.
You're basing your understanding, as we all are, from media reports. How do you and I know how serious his injury is? What if the medical staff told Mac that he can come back in 2 weeks but may have a lingering problem longer or throughout the entire year. A torn groin is not some small injury
He does bring an extra element of being able to really go up and get the football and make some circus catches. But who knows even if he came back with the groin injury possibly lingering how effective would he have been?
Assume they know much more than we do about this. The QB has had a chance to work with new receivers this week. With Quincy down they need healthy targets.
Yep. They can’t be naive enough to think he won’t be snatched up immediately the second he’s healthy. I would have held on... what’s the difference? This way you assure yourself that you have a useful receiver when he’s healthy rather than hoping you can replace him.
