Yes, some more TDs would have been nice, but I can't get too worked up about it considering we have a 21-year-old rookie QB, and we won.
Who cares? Lol Will it be a problem if it continues all season, yeah, but we just scored 70+ points in two games. Not to mention a 21 year old rookie at QB
40+ points. But nevertheless, red zone hasn't been very good. There were a couple times the Jets were close to scoring, but receivers were making mistakes such as dropping balls or not running their route correctly. There were certainly opportunities against the colts, but the Dolphins game was a good example of mistakes near the red zone (1 yard short of scoring before the half, Pryor not running his route correctly, etc.) Most of the TDs are coming off big plays, but that doesn't make up for the redzone issues. I think red zone offense will improve eventually.
Young qbs struggle in the red zone. It’s tough down there , every thing is compacted, windows are smaller, the plays move faster. Not worried about it at this stage. I am thankful that @championjets69 found something to champ about though. Was starting to worry about him.
Yup. It's irrelevant where it comes from, imo. If our team continues putting up 30+ points, I could give a shit if we are the worst in the league all season. You will win many ball games scoring 30 points
Sam has 7 TD passes from outside the red zone and Crowell has 2 TD runs over 20 yards As long as we’re scoring touchdowns I’m fine with it
Sam wasnt the issue in redzone last game.He was 3-4 & the incompletion was a spike to stop the clock Theyre missing something from a skill perspective in the RZ.They have plenty of rebounders which is great but outside of Powell & maybe Herndon there are no short area threats.Additionally there are no great route runners outside of Kearse Oppositions can play zone heavy w inside leverage.Force everything to the sidelines & stay face up to Darnold throwing on the move. Jets need an answer to that which is either someone catching a shallow & making a play after the catch or someone to run great routes to work the timing routes.
Would really like to see us throw to some of those big guys though. Pryor is 6 4 with a decent vertical. I'm sure he can go up and over on a DB.
We are not last in red zone scoring or offense. We are last in red zone TD's. We are 11th in the league in points scored.
You know what really won the game for the Jets vs. Colts? Drops by the Colts WRs. The game was far closer due to the fact that we settled for FGs instead of TDs. Yea, I know we scored a lot but against a better team, that's going to cost us.
Something to champ about, haha. You just know he's that relative who objects at weddings. "Speak now or forever hold your peace." "This thing won't last a year and will end in divorce!"
Yup they dropped passes and we executed 7 FG's perfectly and they only need to execute an onside kick drive for a TD and execute a 2 point conversion with no timeouts to send it to overtime.
