Sounds like the Raiders might seriously consider cutting Carr. Dude was crying during the Seattle game.
Also you know who should be upset about the Gruden-Carr fiasco? The Giants. Because Oakland looks worse than them, and Gruden might just take a QB in the draft.
Unless the Raiders cut Carr after the season and he ends up in NY. They would save 15 mill in cap space and that seems like a very real possibility right now.
Who's the genius that thought paying him $25 million per year was a great idea? Who exactly was he bidding against? And there were actually people in the media applauding them for it!!!!! Gruden walked into a mess he's gonna have to tear that thing down completely then build it back up correctly. It should take a couple of years following this season so by 2020-2021 the fruits of his labor should be evident.
Bold prediction. Gruden is a con man who tricked Mark Davis into thinking he's a guru. He'll tear the team down and leave them in perpetual misery until he quits or Davis gets bullied into replacing him.
Yup, and he’ll blame his failure in the cba constraints and the players attitudes and head back to the booth.
Carr looking like damaged goods right now, really sad considering he was once an MVP candidate in his 2nd year
Who would want to listen to him anymore? He's super annoying on air, the only reason people liked him is because they thought he knew what he was talking about.
to be fair he signed the contract prior to the 2017 season and was only 25 years old. in 2015 and 2016 the 2 seasons before the contract he threw for over 3900 each year (one was in 15 games as well) over 60% completions and 60TDs to 19 INTs (3 to 1 ratio) all very impressive numbers and it seemed like a great deal. he was also a probowler in 2015 and 2016. Locking up a 25 year old 2 time probowl QB made lots of sense. he also had a record of 19 wins and 13 losses in those 2 years including a 12-4 season where they were considered contenders for the SB until he got hurt in the final games of the season. Even his 2017 season was good. 3500 yards 22TDs 13INTs 63% completions. It didn't look like a bad deal until this year now where he isn't playing great and it could be lingering effects of the injury or even the new coaching staff. even with that said he is still on pace for 4700 yards and has a 70+% completion rate. he just hasn't thrown enough TDs and thrown too many INTs but that's not all his fault. he's a talented QB and oakland would be dumb to move him right now
That team is a dumpster fire right now (which is what they've been since getting destroyed in that Super Bowl against Gruden's Bucs) awful QB contract, pretty much homeless since they're playing lame duck seasons in Oakland before moving to Vegas. Gruden was away a long time he has to shake off some rust and get HIS guys in there should take him a couple of seasons which oh btw will be right around the time they make the move to Vegas. Coincidence?
It looked like a bad deal to me the first time I heard about it. And no one is trading for that contract if he doesn't accept a massive pay cut he'll get cut.
Carr's contract didn't look awful until Gruden got there. He was playing very well under del Rio. Give him a good offensive coach and he'll light it up. And I have no faith things will be better once Gruden gets his guys in there. McKenzie was a good GM, Gruden not so much.
