Didn't you bail out of watching the game like 15 minutes in? What kinda fan does that? Go ahead and take the rest of the year off.
Obviously this guy didn't start watching Jets football before Bowles tagged along. Darnold never started any game with 3 straight picks, just to boot.
Well 2016 includes Fitzpatrick being an embarrassment and 2017 had some pretty bad McCown games and horrendous Petty games. So he did not start watching until......... Last week?
The poster I quoted said “last few years”. If that means the last 10-20 years to you then so be it. I interpreted it to be 3-4 years and in that context, I’m right, save for Petty. Darnold is currently at a middle ground where he could have a year like McCown did last year, or a year like Fitz did the year before. Nobody knows how it’ll end up, and if you want to try to argue that Darnold has been playing great, by all means go right ahead.
I’ve been watching the same games as you since around 1990. Darnolds made some nice throws. He could also have 10-12 picks right now if DB’s and LB’s weren’t on that side of the ball for a reason. No need to pretend he’s lighting it up, because he’s not...yet. And FWIW, I forgot about Bryce Petty. So, my fault there.
Just love the fact that we have a supporter who is a fan of a different team. Which is coincidental because my brother is the biggest Bears fan and he watches and supports the Jets and I watch and support his Bears!
oh Schillinger, you are just a cutie patootie anyway, thanks for having me here guys. I really enjoy this board. Like I said, there are a lot of knowledgeable, old-school football fans on this board, and I like that.
It's not cool, it's awesome man. We are very fortunate to have Buddy part of our gang here. I can't get enough of his thought provoking Jets threads. So far my favorite thread started by him is, "Two quick questions for you guys-Greatest JETS team of all-time?" Keep them coming, Mr. Neufield.
hahahaha, I hear you EnunwayFan! It could have happened in 1985. If it does happen this year, the Beers are on me guys, haha!
Well here's to a good pre Halloween matchup, Buddy NY vs Chicago The Godfather vs Al Capone ...ahahahah Cheers!!
I should have been more specific. I was thinking back to Pennington pretty much. Favre had a good 10 weeks-ish, fitz had 1 good year McCown had a good run til he got hurt. All the others were my baseline for that statement. Clemens, Mcelroy, Petty, Geno... ill throw Hackenberg in there because he was that bad. Since then, the below average games Sam has had was what gave us "hope" when those crud qb's played. Im not crowning him, but I'll take it so far for a 21yr old.
That I can agree with. The Jets haven’t had stability at QB since I started watching them. Fitz’ one season and McCowns last have been better then the average over that span, both occurring over the past few years. I have as high a hope for Darnold as anyone, I’m just not ready to say he’s playing great just yet.
Did the 45% completion rate also blow you away? Yep, he threw some beauties but threw some stinkers too which he was lucky that none were picked off. One day at a time.
I see picks go off the hands of DB multiple times a game... every team, every week. You better be specific and detail drops and WR doing the wrong route into consideration too if that's a complaint... but since you brought up the poor competition percentage it doesnt appear so.
I didn't know 2014 was 10 years ago. Wow. Man, I am growing old. FAST. http://www.nfl.com/videos/buffalo-bills/0ap3000000417499/Geno-Smith-struggles-vs-Bills
